Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation (MYL Foundation) is a Massachusetts-based 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization seeking to recognize, teach, and empower leadership in high school sophomores across the state. We value the potential of young people as our future leaders and provide them with the tools to create positive change in their schools and communities. MYL Foundation's central

program is MassSTAR (Massachusetts STudents Accepting Responsibility), a three day leadership conference held on a college campus each summer. We invite one sophomore from every Massachusetts-accredited rural, suburban, and inner city high school, both public and private, to participate in an exciting, hands-on learning experience. Student delegates are nominated and chosen by their school principals, guidance counselors, teachers, and advisors, based on their demonstrated and potential leadership ability. For more than twenty-five years, MYL Foundation's annual programs have reached over 5,000 students. Through a series of panel speakers, group learning activities, and intensive small group discussions, we take these young people and demonstrate to them that they can be proactive leaders in their own communities. These students then take these skills and bring them back to their home school environments. MassSTAR is unique in the fact that its programs are offered at no cost to students, their families, or their schools, enabling the inclusion of all student nominees, regardless of social or economic background. Our organization is 100 percent volunteer driven, with most of the volunteers being alumni of the program. These alumni are living proof that this organization is worthy of its cause. They themselves have seen the power of what is learned during these workshops and are committed to offering the same opportunity for other high school sophomores across Massachusetts.

Introducing Alyia Vasquez, MYL's Recruitment Director and a 2023 delegate! Alyia returned to MassSTAR for the chance to be part of the way it can change someone's life, even in the smallest way. That kind of heart is exactly what makes the CPC special. Oh, and fun fact: she is an extra in the Little Women movie, so yes, she is basically famous. We are so happy to have her on the team!

Introducing Lexi Erler, MYL's Recruitment Director and a 2024 delegate! Lexi returned to MassSTAR because it became her second family, a place where she can truly be herself without ever having to hide behind a mask. That kind of belonging is exactly what MassSTAR is all about. Also, her dream pet is a baby duck that she would keep as a duckling forever if she could. We are so glad to have her back!

Introducing Mackenzie McNeil, MYL's Staff Director and a 2018 delegate! Mackenzie's favorite point on the star is intentionality, because she believes that understanding where people are coming from makes all the difference in how we connect and communicate. Her first job was working in the restaurant at her trade high school's Hospitality Program, where she built her interpersonal and speaking skills early on. And yes, restaurant food for lunch as a high schooler was a major bonus. We are so glad to have her on the team!

Introducing Maegan Horrigan, MYL's In-Kind Donations Director and a 2023 delegate! Maegan's favorite point on the star is initiative, because she truly values when people put in the effort to show up for their relationships and the people around them. And in case you were wondering, her dream pet is a crocodile, because every good moat needs one. And also lasers. We are so glad to have her on the team!

Introducing Justin Normandeau, MYL's Operations Staff Director and a 2017 delegate! Justin returned to MassSTAR because he wanted to keep surrounding himself with the positive and inclusive environment that MassSTAR brings. Also, his dream pet is the chillest cat possible, because apparently that is a requirement for the job. We are so happy to have him back!

Introducing Shea Duffy, MYL's Operations Director and a 2018 delegate! Shea believes respect is something we can all forget at times, and that now more than ever it is important to lead with it. Before joining the CPC, his first job was as a soccer referee and trainer, where he discovered his passion for mentoring others and watching them grow. We are so excited to have him on the team!

Introducing Maria Cummings, MYL's Director of Operations and a 2022 delegate! Maria believes in respecting people for who they are and showing up for her community, values that make her a perfect fit for the CPC. Fun fact: her first job was at Dunkin' Donuts, where she learned collaboration, customer service, and how to make a great cup of coffee. We are thrilled to have her on the team!
