Greetings Fellow Artists,
Despite losing our building, the North Port Art Group is alive and well. We want to support our artist members of the North Port Art Center and stay in the mind of our public, by promoting art in public places. We are fortunate to present our member's art work at the Welcome Center at Wellen Park.
We change our display every 3 months; the current show, March Into May, will be ending May 30th. The theme of the next show will be animals (please no birds)with the title of "Wild Thing" . This post will serve as the prospectus for the show.
Here is how you can support us by taking part in the show:
* Look through your art for examples that fit the theme or, if you're quick, make something new.
* Send an image of your selected art to me (Patricia Jenkins, NPAC Exhibit coordinator at Wellen Park Visitor Center): [email protected]. You can enter several pieces if you want to.You may add a price to sell the work or just say "not for sale"
* Fill out and send the application form attached below so I know who you are.
* Entries go through two evaluation processes. One by a North Port Art Representative and one by a Wellen Park representative
* You will receive an email, on Friday May 29th, informing you whether your art will be accepted into this show or not
* Dates of the show will be May 31, 2026 through August 30, 2026
* On Sunday, May 31st, you will be asked to drop off your art at the Wellen Park Welcome Center and to sign a standard release at this time.
* An informal reception will be held on June 26th at 5:30PM; you will receive advanced notice and an invitation that you can forward to friends, family and clients.
* At the end of the show, August 30th, you will be asked to pick up unsold work.
Here are a few important details:
* Art must be wired and professionally presented
* We are not accepting photos or jewelry for this show
* Wellen Park has a strict, and conservative, "family" restriction, meaning no nudes
* There is no charge for entry into this show
* There will be no prizes awarded
* Money collected from sales will be mailed to you at the close of the show.
* North Port Art Group charges a commission of 30% of every sale so price your work accordingly.
* It is a generous space. We can accommodate both large and small 2D art and small 3D art
Be aware that the venue is not specifically guarded;people are in the room but it is not their responsibility to watch art.
