Attention area artists:
Art Speaks #6 takes place at Shannon Staub Library, 4675 Career Lane, North Port, at 2pm on Saturday, November 21, 2026. This event celebrates the artwork of local artists; it includes readings by area poets and writers who have selected a piece or two of art to express what “art speaks” to them.
“All artists are invited to participate,” states Gale West, Board President of the North Port Art Center. “Artwork must be wired for display or be displayed on available tables, or easels provided by the artist. Artists must bring art to the Library no later than 1:45pm on November 21 and stay until the end of the event .. approximately 4pm.” (To participate, artists must email or text a picture of 1-3 pieces of art no later than October 31st to [email protected] or 941-380-3162 to allow time for poets to select and prepare their readings.)
In addition to artists, poets and writers, Art Speaks #6 includes entertainment by violin students taught by local musician and string instructor Dana Killam. After a brief intermission, the audience has an opportunity to share how individual pieces of art ‘spoke’ to them before they meet the artist who shares the inspiration for each piece of artwork on display.
“Everyone experiences art differently,” said West. “Art touches the heart and creates an emotional impact. It inspires. It’s uplifting. It can allow people to express their deepest fear and greatest joy. Learn how you can express yourself by attending Art Speaks #6 on November 21, 2026, at Shannon Staub Library.”

It was wonderful to have the North Port Art Center hosting teen Art classes this afternoon at the Jockey Club.

Such a respectful and kind group of people from the students to the teachers!!

This supports both our communities as we receive a percentage of the course fees. We look forward to building together. 💙
