Mending Hearts Pet Rescue We are a 501c3 foster-based animal rescue out of North Port, FL. Together, we’re mending hearts

Our true purpose is in our name - we want to mend the hearts of homeless animals and pet owners (both those rehoming, or those adopting pets). Our animals are found as strays, given up by people in difficult situations, or are taken in from local shelters. We strive to bring awareness to animals that are otherwise "invisible" and will work towards this mission alongside our local community - because it's up to US to save their lives! Stop by Healthy Pet Products Florida in Port Charlotte and say hi to Nancy 🐱

She came to us from a local shelter with five newborn kittens, shy at first, but with time she's let her sweet, gentle side shine ✨

Three of her babies are still looking for homes: Maxine, Eleven, and Dustin. They're social, confident little goofballs, and they'd love a playmate. Interested in adopting? Message us or visit mhpetrescue.org/adopt 💛

Plankton's surgery is done and he's healing beautifully! 🐾 One eye down, zero personality lost. Massive thanks to for funding his care when our own fundraiser came up empty 🫶

Plankton came to us from a local county shelter. He was found emaciated, infested with parasites, and with a ruptured eye that was damaged beyond repair. His amazing foster dealt with lots of litter box cleanup, gave him many medications, and has helped him grow into the handsome panther he is today! 🖤

This baby will be ready to go home soon - Apply on our website if interested:

“Are you our new best friend?”

We set the camera down for a second and the Stranger Things three came right over to inspect it. Maxine, Dustin, and Eleven are bold, social, and happy to make friends with anyone who'll hold still long enough. 😁

Each of them is available on their own, but they'd really love a playmate. A home with a friendly resident cat or dog, or a family that wants two kittens for the price of double the chaos, would be a great fit. ♥️

Two more babies found their forever homes through Cattyshack Cat Cafe 🥹

This partnership continues to be such a gift for our rescue. We handle the vetting and fixing them up, and we get to trust genuine cat people to find them the homes they deserve. Grateful doesn't even cover it. 😍

♥️ Foster needed for vision impaired pup ♥️

This 17 lb dachshund mix was born missing one eye, and the other is underdeveloped, so he sees very little. He still wags his whole body when people walk in the room 🥰

Because of his limited vision, he loves to be near a person or other dog - so much so we have been calling him “Tripp” 😆 we are looking for a foster home to provide the patience, training, and love to help him thrive. We will provide all the supplies and medical care!

Can you foster him? Send us a message or apply on our website: mhpetrescue.org/foster
