Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance A nonprofit on a mission to create, maintain, & protect sustainable trails for all riders across Washington State.

Evergreen is the largest statewide MTB Advocacy and trail-building organization in the United States. We partner with land managers, communities and user groups to create great trails all over the state. Started in 1989 to just gain access to a few existing trails, we've become the leader in trail development, construction and maintenance for the region.s

Every month, we send new and returning members a quick 5-question survey to learn what's working โ€” and what's not. One question asks: "What's one thing Evergreen could do to make your membership more valuable?"

This word cloud is every answer, visualized.

We asked. You answered. And we're always listening. ๐Ÿ‘‡

What would you add? Drop it in the comments โ€” and if you're not a member yet, join 4,700+ riders building and protecting Washington trails at evergreenmtb.org/join

Advocacy Alert: Port Angeles MTB trail access is threatened

A proposal to designate the Elwha River Watershed as a Natural Area could end or severely restrict mountain biking at Dry Hill, the Zoo, Colville, and the Olympic Adventure Trail. Washington DNR has begun the process of potentially designating these lands as a Natural Area Preserve or a Natural Resources Conservation Area. Neither designation allows for MTB on trails within those zones.

For nearly 30 years, volunteers have poured their hearts into Dry Hill. The communityโ€™s partnership with the DNR has proven that active forest management and world-class recreation can thrive together.

The DNR has been an outstanding partner throughout the years, and that partnership continues today as we work together to identify ways to harvest timber responsibly while preserving the trails and recreation opportunities that make this area so special.

Help advocate for our trails. Share your support for MTB trails in the DNR survey by June 15th: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/2e2fb0d2370d47b699bdfbe6b2739298?portalUrl=https://gis.dnr.wa.gov/portal

Join the Virtual Public Meeting on June 18th from 9-10am:

We need a good turnout to show decision-makers that our community values responsible recreation. This meeting is virtual, making it easy for everyone to attend and voice their support for continued trail access.

Work is officially complete on a 350 ft. bypass trail that reconnects and restores public access to the closed portion of the Palouse to Cascades Trail just west of the Homestead Valley Trailhead, following the major storm damage from this winterโ€™s atmospheric river event.

Thanks to our partnership with Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission and the Washington State Parks Foundation, and expedited permitting assistance from King County, Evergreen crews built the temporary bypass trail around the most heavily damaged section. Combined with additional trail repairs, the project has reopened through access to the west side of the Palouse to Cascades Trail for hikers, riders, and equestrians. ๐Ÿ’š

Projects like this are possible because of Evergreen members who support trail access, restoration, and stewardship across Washington. If you believe in keeping trails open and connected, sign up or renew your membership today: https://www.evergreenmtb.org/support-us/become-a-member

๐ŸŽ‰ Big news from the Teanaway in our Kittitas Chapter!

On Saturday, we celebrated the grand opening of the new West Fork Teanaway Trailhead, marking the completion of Phase 1 of the West Fork Teanaway Trails Plan โœ… in partnership with DNR, Washington Trails, Mountains To Sound Greenway, and Backcountry Horsemen of Washington.

In 2013 the Teanaway Community Forest was established as Washingtonโ€™s first state-owned community forest after DNR purchased the land with legislative funding, and over the last 13 years Evergreen has been working alongside DNR and other stakeholders to help shape the area's recreation plans.

Since construction began in 2022, Phase 1 has delivered 18 miles of new multi-use trails! This is the first major step toward a planned 55-mile trail network in the Teanaway Community Forest.

Thank you to Dru Bru, our Kittitas Chapter volunteers, coalition partners, members, donors, and everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

Projects like this don't happen without the support of Evergreen members. Membership dollars help fund trail planning, advocacy, volunteer programs, and trail construction that create more places to ride across Washington.

As we celebrate this milestone, remember to sign up or renew your membership to help build what's next. Phase 2 is already underway. ๐Ÿšต๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ‘‰ www.evergreenmtb.org/join
