Community Visit 🤝

Dan Koh, candidate for Congress, visited Peoples Food Pantry last week. We welcome all candidates and community leaders to visit and see firsthand the needs facing our neighbors.

Rising costs, seniors on fixed incomes, and families struggling to make ends meet are just some of the reasons people turn to us for support.

From food drive to volunteer!

After a middle school food drive in February and a June field trip to help set up our distribution day, one student decided she wanted to keep making a difference all summer long. ❤️

Way to go, Alina! She signed up to volunteer—and brought her mom, Zoey, and brother, Alvin, along with her. We love seeing volunteering become a family affair!

🌟 Pantry Spotlight: Liz Sholtys, Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator

Liz brings a passion for community engagement and service to everything she does.

Before joining us, Liz founded Ashraya Initiative for Children, a nonprofit in Pune, India, while studying Anthropology and Sociology at Emory University. She helped grow the organization to provide residential, educational, medical, legal, and community development support to children and families.

Today, Liz’s work at Peoples Food Pantry is grounded in a simple belief: nutrition equity starts with strong communities, meaningful partnerships, and making sure everyone has access to the food they need. ❤️

Meet Frozen Frenzy!🍦❤️

Pictured left to right: Milo, Coco, Ollie and Dariyah. Not pictured: Jayden and Wilder. These six local middle schoolers spend their summer Wednesdays selling ice cream at Andover’s Concerts in the Park and donating their profits each week to a different local organization.

We were so grateful to be one of the organizations they supported! They even stayed to help the People’s Food Pantry set up for distribution day.

We’re so grateful for our longtime partnership Boston Area Gleaners Food Rescue!

What started about 10 years ago with just 5–6 boxes of fresh produce picked up in Waltham has grown into a delivery of 50+ boxes of fresh produce every two weeks for our guests.

We’re thankful to Gleaners, Jared for making the deliveries, and everyone who helps get this nutritious food into the hands of our community.

We’re so thankful for our amazing volunteers, Rachel & Stu, who every Monday visit four different Starbucks locations throughout the North Andover area to rescue food that is approaching its sell-by date.

These items make their way to our Tuesday pantry distributions, where they’re always a favorite among our guests!

It truly takes so many people working behind the scenes to rescue good food and get it into the hands of grateful families in our community.

What a great night to celebrate community!

This year, we had the opportunity to participate in National Night Out, an annual community-building event in partnership with the .

It was a great evening to connect with neighbors, share information about the resources available to local families through the pantry, and highlight the many ways our community can get involved and support our mission.

We’re so grateful to Eversource MA for supporting Peoples Food Pantry with a community grant!

This funding will help us provide fresh produce to our guests, making a meaningful difference for families in our community.

Thank you to Peter T. Bowman, Senior Specialist, Community Relations & Economic Development, for connecting with us and supporting the work we do. Fran Rohr and Jen Cordes were grateful to meet with Peter and share more about the impact this grant will have.

🎉 Celebrating National Nonprofit Day! 🎉

This National Nonprofit Day, we're reflecting on an incredible milestone—over three years as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

What started as a small community effort has grown into a vital resource for hundreds of local families experiencing food insecurity. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, donors, community partners, and neighbors, we've expanded our reach, increased the amount of nutritious food we distribute, and strengthened our commitment to ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.

This annual celebration highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation's food system. We rely heavily on our partners to provide produce to support our families with healthy options.
