Sometimes, you find more than you came to give. ❤️

This Testimony Tuesday, Volunteer Coordinator LeAnn Fujimoto shares a conversation that changed the way she saw volunteering at Midwest Food Bank.

One volunteer told her that after retirement, she and her husband had lost much of the community and friendships they had built throughout their lives. But when they began volunteering at Midwest Food Bank, they found something unexpected: a family.

Today, LeAnn sees those relationships throughout the volunteer community—people caring for one another, checking in when someone is sick, traveling together, sharing meals, walking through difficult seasons and celebrating joyful moments side by side.

We come together to serve others, but along the way, we can find friendship, belonging and a community that cares for one another.

As LeAnn says, it’s a family “sharing the love of Christ through service.”

Making an Impact Together 🏐

Shout out to Normal West Volleyball for making an impact on Monday evening!

In just two hours, the team packaged 2,520 bags of beans—a powerful example of what can happen when a group comes together to serve.

Project lead John shared, “The girls were on fire and fantastic workers and didn't hesitate to cleanup. It was a great effort and I was really glad to be a part of it! My co leader, Priya, was an absolute champion and a delight to work with.”

A Little Lemonade Can Make a Big Difference 🍋

Lincoln and Charlotte turned a simple lemonade stand into an opportunity to serve others. Together, they raised $100 for the Hope Pack program, which helps provide food for school children to take home on the weekends.

What a beautiful example of compassion in action. Their kindness reminds us that serving others can start with something as simple as a pitcher of lemonade, a table, and a willing heart.

Sometimes, the answer to a busy season is already on the road.

This Testimony Tuesday, Carrie Ford, our Agency Coordinator, shares how God provided exactly what she needed through faithful volunteers willing to serve.

What started as a need for help with agency visits became an opportunity for volunteers to step forward, make the trips, and return with joy from what they experienced.

We’re grateful for every person who says yes to serving. Their willingness makes a difference—not only in the work that needs to be done, but in the fellowship and joy found along the way.
