"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead
The Norfolk Community Chapter championed a positive, proactive strategy to improve language access for all city services and resources in Norfolk. When we come together on common ground and build power for the common good, everyone in our rural communities thrive. Hats off to the City of Norfolk for supporting this effort and improving the quality of life for all.
📣 On Monday, the Norfolk City Council recognized our ongoing work to break down language barriers with a proclamation celebrating our Language Access Plan!
Over the past several months, we've been working hard to ensure ALL residents—no matter what language they speak—can connect with city services and feel included.
🌍 Highlights so far:
✅ Key documents translated into Spanish (more coming!)
✅ Bilingual signs at the library, AquaVenture & city offices
✅ Language Access Toolkit & staff training
✅ Efforts underway to expand access in public safety & certify bilingual staff
We're just getting started—let’s keep building a more inclusive Norfolk! 💬🌟
