🩵 June is National Reunification Month 🩵

Beautiful moments in the kitchen. A mom teaching her teenage daughter how to make Chicken Alfredo from scratch. (The house smelled AMAZING!🤩)

To many, it may seem like an ordinary moment. But for this family, it was so much more.

As they cooked together, we witnessed healing and normalcy unfolding right before our eyes. A simple recipe became a reminder of what restoration can look like. 🙏🏽

The GOAL of foster care is reunification. Getting there often requires tremendous effort from everyone involved >>>> parents working through challenges, caseworkers advocating tirelessly, children longing to be back together, foster families supporting the process, and communities coming alongside families with hope and encouragement.

Reunification isn’t always easy. It often involves healing, growth, setbacks, and victories. But when families can safely reunite, it is a moment worth celebrating! 🥳

Experiencing moments like a mom teaching her daughter to cook is a beautiful reminder that God can redeem ANYONE and ANY family. Praise the Lord! 🙌🏾

We have seen it happen time and time again.
We have also grieved alongside parents when reunification was not possible. We know every family’s journey is different, and every story carries its own joys and heartaches.

This month, we celebrate the families who have worked hard toward restoration, the children who have shown incredible resilience, and all those who walk alongside them!!

Because sometimes healing looks like Chicken Alfredo, laughter in the kitchen, and a mother and daughter simply being together. 💕

We had such a fun day hosting our Hamilton County DCS caseworkers at The Cooper House! 💙

These caseworkers work tirelessly every day to support children and families in our community, and it was a JOY to spend a little time encouraging them!

A huge thank you to the Noblesville Kiwanis Sunrisers for grilling and providing a delicious meal, and to our incredible volunteers who helped make the day so special!

It was such a gift to spoil these hardworking caseworkers for a few hours and, hopefully, provide a little rest and peace in the midst of the important work they do every day. Just a little reminder that they are SEEN. HEARD. CHOSEN. LOVED! They spend so much of their time caring for others, and we loved having the opportunity to care for them.

They go above and beyond for our families and children in our community! Grateful! 💙✨

Birthdays matter. 🎂💙

For children and families walking through foster care, birthdays can sometimes feel overlooked in the middle of hard seasons. Parents grieving not being with their child on their actual birthday, yet still so thankful to celebrate together on another day. A child feeling sad they can’t invite everyone they wish they could because of foster care circumstances, while also feeling joy just being together with the people who are in the room.

So many BOTH/AND emotions. 🫶

That’s why we are so thankful for Chandra, one of our incredible volunteers, who lovingly makes birthday cakes for the families we serve through The Cooper House. 💕

Each cake is unique and thoughtfully created around the child’s favorite things and interests! Can you tell what this birthday boy is into? 😉

But it’s more than just a cake. It’s a reminder that someone sees them, celebrates them, and cares. Chandra helps create moments of joy and normalcy for kids and families who need it most. She even prays over each child and the year ahead for them. What an eternal impact. 🥹

We are so grateful for volunteers like her who use their gifts to love our people so well. 🥳✨

Gahhh! 🎉💛

We are so grateful to the team for blessing The Cooper House with a $5,000 grant to help keep our Community Closet stocked and ready for the children and families we serve!

Y’all, this closet gets used ALL. THE. TIME.

One of the hardest parts of crisis is that needs are immediate! A child doesn’t need pajamas next week. A parent doesn’t need hygiene items next month. They need them right now.

Because of this gift…

🫶🏽 A child entering foster care can have clean clothes, pajamas, and a stuffed animal before bedtime.

🫶🏽 A parent can leave with hygiene items, diapers, or basic necessities.

🫶🏽 A caseworker can grab clothing and supplies for a child entering care that same day.

🫶🏽 A child celebrating a birthday at the house can pick out gifts and feel celebrated and loved.

🫶🏽 A family can take home groceries and pantry items when the budget is stretched thin.

What looks like shelves filled with everyday items is SO MUCH MORE.

It’s a child feeling comfortable enough to sleep. It’s a parent feeling supported instead of judged. It’s a caseworker knowing they have somewhere to turn. It’s a family being reminded they’re not alone.

Sometimes HOPE looks like a pair of pajamas, a birthday gift, a bag of groceries, or a toothbrush handed over at exactly the right moment. 💛

Thank you, Junior League of Indianapolis, for helping us keep hope on the shelves and reminding families in our community that they are seen, heard, chosen, and loved. 🫶🏽

THIS is what leadership looks like 👏🏼💙

Shoutout to Clark Rose for choosing The Cooper House for his Eagle Scout project!

Clark saw a need and turned it into something beautiful for the children and families who spend time here.
He:
✨ Built an intentional border around our playground
✨ Spread fresh mulch around the play area
✨ Built an adorable kids picnic table
✨ Raised the funds AND organized the people to make it all happen!

What an incredible example of leadership, service, and compassion. Because of Clark’s hard work, our outdoor space is safer, more welcoming, less muddy, and even more FUN for the kids who come through our doors.

Clark — thank you for serving our families with excellence and heart. We are beyond grateful you chose The Cooper House for your Eagle Scout project! 💙
