Meet The Team!
Back in 2007, New Life Ministries began with the opening of the New Life Community Meal Ministry. Since then, the Meal Ministry has continued to grow and evolve to better serve our community. From the addition of lunch hours and carryout meals to the hundreds of volunteers who make it possible, the Meal Ministry is a large undertaking.
But we are grateful to know the Meal Ministry is in great hands, thanks to the dedicated work of our Meal Ministry Director, Gina!
Gina has a servant’s heart and a deep love for the Meal Ministry. As a follower of Christ and a member of Life Church, she has been faithfully serving at the Meal Ministry for around 15 years.
“I volunteered back when it [the Meal Ministry] was over on Franklin Street. This was around the same time I was getting back to church, and I just started volunteering,” Gina shared.
As a volunteer, Gina was reliable and always willing to step in when extra help was needed. She was often looking for opportunities to come down and serve. In fact, she joked that once she retired, Bob would probably get sick of seeing her around the Meal Ministry!
But when Bob needed extra help, he went to Gina. And, at the start of 2026, Gina took on the role as Bob’s assistant at the Meal Ministry. Then, following some significant changes this summer, Gina stepped into her current role as Meal Ministry Director, and she has been doing an excellent job!
From cooking and serving meals to coordinating volunteers, organizing pantries and freezers, monitoring daily operations, and building relationships, Gina has ensured the Meal Ministry runs smoothly.
When speaking with Gina, it is clear that she genuinely loves what she does. And the people she encounters are a big part of what makes the work so meaningful to her. She reflected on the relationships she has built with patrons and the joy she experiences when people are receptive to the gospel or express gratitude for the love and kindness she has shown them. Gina also pointed out, “The volunteers fill me with so much joy!”
Gina’s heart for the Meal Ministry was especially clear in her final response, “I want people to know that the Meal Ministry is there for anyone in need. It’s for families with high electric bills who might need meals for a week, for the hungry, or those looking for community. But also that it is fun to volunteer down here too!”
We are grateful for Gina, her hard work, and her heart for Jesus, people, and this ministry. She’s a great addition to our team and a true example of how to serve like Jesus. If you haven’t had the chance to meet her yet, we encourage you to stop by the Meal Ministry and say hi!
