Every man deserves a safe place to start again.

At New Life Ministries, our Men’s Life House is a four-phase transitional housing program helping men navigate homelessness, addiction, trauma, hunger, and mental illness through structure, mentorship, and the love of Christ.

Since 2022, we have welcomed over 125 men into the home. From day one, this has been a place for men to come as they are, heal, learn, and grow with the goal of building a stable, independent life outside the program.

At this year’s Spring Banquet, we shared six stories of men and women who have seen their lives changed while going through the Life House programs. Makayla was one of those individuals who shared her story and we are thankful for her vulnerability and willingness to share.

And stories like Makayla’s highlight the reason why we do what we do! It is about meeting needs, showing compassion, and, most importantly, sharing the love of Christ.

But accomplishing these goals is not free and we need your help!

We are still working to close the gap on our $60,000 goal from our Spring Banquet!

This push is not just because we want to meet a goal. We are making this push because we want to serve people well. Meeting this goal allows us to continue to carry out our mission of serving those in need of food, shelter, and a purpose-filled life.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and supported New Life Ministries during our Spring Banquet: Connected by Compassion last Thursday! We still cannot get over the wonderful support we have received through this event.

But this week, we have a challenge and are making one final push!

At New Life Ministries, we know that we serve a big God who can answer big prayers. And at this year’s Spring Banquet we set out with a goal to raise $60,000 - 11% of our annual budget. We give praise for the $47,405 already raised, but we believe that with your help, we can raise the remaining $12,595 and reach our goal!

What an incredible night! Thank you to everyone who took time to attend our Spring Banquet: Connected by Compassion. Your presence and generosity are helping change lives and bring hope to our community. Thank you!

We also want to extend a special thank you to Josh Kesler for facilitating the event, Lorissa Sweet for the inspiring words, and Life Church for creating a powerful video that shared the stories of New Life Ministries.

Volunteer Team Spotlight: Bowen Health

Bowen Health is one of our newer volunteer groups. When they wanted to get involved, we were excited to help them get plugged in because we love seeing our community working together to better serve those who reside in Huntington! And for Bowen Health, their time serving at the New Life Community Meal Ministry can best be described as rewarding.

For Bowen, they volunteer because they believe in “showing up for our community with open hands and open hearts.” They know that the Meal Ministry is able to play a vital role in providing reliable meals which helps people start to thrive because we know that thriving begins with the basics. And Bowen Health’s hope is simple, “that every person in our community feels supported in caring for both their body and their mind.”

Bowen shared an amazing story with us too which reminds us of the value of services like the Meal Ministry and how providing food can become so much more. “One evening during dinner service, a gentleman stopped us and quietly asked if we could help him. He was facing significant challenges with housing and stability, and it was clear he was carrying a heavy burden. We offered him resources he could use that night and encouraged him to come to Bowen Health the next morning so we could walk alongside him in a more meaningful way. He showed up ready, hopeful, and willing to take the next step. From there, we were able to support him in finding housing, connecting with therapy and primary care, and accessing additional community resources. Moments like this remind us why we serve: because when someone reaches out, even in a moment of uncertainty, they deserve a path forward and a community ready to help them take it.”

Thank you Bowen Health for volunteering alongside us as we work to provide meals to those in our community! We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Huntington together with you.
