We know it might feel a little early to start thinking about Christmas, but over at Grace Care Center, we’re already preparing for our annual Christmas Store! 🎁

Right now, we’re looking for businesses and organizations willing to host a toy drive in their lobby! The best part? We do all the work! We’ll drop off donation boxes at the end of October and come collect them at the end of November or early December.

We had a great week at our Choice Food Pantry! 💚

Thanks in part to these two teams, we were able to serve hundreds of families during this fall break season, when many of our regular volunteers are away. Northview Church Westfield and Guerin Catholic, you are rockstars! 🙌

A couple of shoutouts for our Co-Op friends! 🗣️

We recently celebrated Alexander on his new employment and Jogisa on her graduation from our Co-Op Program. We are so grateful to witness the transformation in our friends as they develop new skills, find support from mentors, and work toward greater stability. These milestones are a reflection of just that!

🌟 Volunteer of the Week Spotlight is Lois Crawford! 🌟

How long have you served in the Grace Care Center?
The first time I volunteered was in 2014. I’ve become a regular volunteer since!

What area do you serve in?
I serve in two areas at the Care Center; Grace Thrift Store and the Register.

What keeps you coming back?
I enjoy giving and helping others. After working my whole life, the time that I have now, I want to give back! It gives me something to do with my time!

How has serving in the Grace Care Center changed you?
Serving here has made me more aware of others. You’re able to see what’s going on in the world in a whole new light.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
I used to be an OPN nurse and worked in nursing homes!

We were lucky to have teams from JPS Consulting Engineers, Mercy Road Church - Carmel, Towne Meadow Elementary PTO 's Kindness Crew, and Catholic. What a blessing it was to be able to serve more families with the additional help!

We had a successful October Outreach Week! 💚

Joining us this month was one of our partners, Heart & Soul Clinic, as well as some other collaborators, Care Access and Hamilton County Health Department - Indiana. These organizations do an outstanding job at promoting good health in our community, offering either free or low-cost resources for all. We are so grateful for everything you do! 🩺💓

We had some excellent extra hands on deck this week at Grace Care Center! 🙌

Grace Fishers Church collected and donated 68,000 wipes for our Choice Food Pantry and volunteered with us in the Warehouse. We go through about 10,000 wipes a month here, so this will be SO very helpful for our families!

We also had Global Investments and ReVi join us in our pantry as personal shoppers. It's because of volunteer groups like this that we can serve so many friends in our community!

Last Thursday, Grace Care Center recently received Lilly volunteers to bring the Mobile Food Pantry to two communities in the Indianapolis area. As part of the Lilly Global Day of Service, several Lilly employees joined Grace Care Center volunteers and staff to help distribute groceries to their neighbors in need.

🌟 Volunteer of the Week Spotlight is Robin Murphy! 🌟

How long have you served in the Grace Care Center?
I started volunteering in October of 2013.

What area do you serve in?
I started out bagging and then became a caller once we moved to the new space, then I started doing the register about 2 years ago. I became very close with my register team, we have fun, and we have been together since the beginning! We were dubbed “The Dream Team” because we were so fast and efficient!

What keeps you coming back?
The people keep me coming back! All of the friends and faces are what my Wednesday morning is all about! We have seen each other through kids getting older and becoming empty nesters, to aging parents, health concerns, and so many other highs and lows.

How has serving in the Grace Care Center changed you?
Serving has changed me because when I started volunteering in 2013, it was in a small room where 2 carts could barely fit down an aisle, into a huge space that serves hundreds in our community weekly! During the pandemic, when people couldn’t come to the pantry, we brought the pantry to them and delivered food to our friends. Those drives showed me a side of our community I hadn’t seen, neighbors just a few miles away who were quietly going without. It changed how I think about where we live and who we’re here for. That’s what Grace Care Center is all about.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
I just took a family vacation to Iceland last month and it was the most magical vacation ever. I would go back every year if I could!
