American Foundation for Suicide Prevention- Indiana Chapter THE INDIANA CHAPTER is a STATEWIDE chapter of the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. We each bring our own experience and we invite you to share yours.

The American Foundation for Su***de Prevention’s page is a forum to communicate news and information and to create a community among individuals concerned about su***de prevention, coping with su***de loss and living with a mental illness. While we encourage dialogue, it is important that this page remain free of judgment, criticism, and unsolicited advice, a safe place for all members of our community. Comments or posts on this page that do not follow these guidelines may be removed. AFSP’s Facebook community is meant to foster a caring environment, spread awareness of the cause, and create a greater understanding of research, education and advocacy related to mental health and su***de prevention. We had the pleasure of visiting Madison Consolidated High School / MCS_Indiana to present Mr. Lawhead with the AFSP Indiana Hope in Action Award in recognition of his dedication and support of AFSP’s mission!

Thank you, Mr. Lawhead, for all you do to help make our communities smart about mental health and spread hope and healing throughout Indiana. Your commitment makes a difference! On Saturday, November 21, join thousands of su***de loss survivors at events across the world. International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day, also known as Survivor Day, encourages friends and family of those who have died by su***de to come together for healing and support. These special events allow loss survivors to connect with a community of people who understand their unique loss, and to find hope through shared experience. π’₯π‘œπ’Ύπ“ƒ π“Šπ“ˆ.

​There are several Survivor Day sites throughout Indiana and the world.

In August, the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention’s Indiana Chapter hosted its inaugural Pride Pathways, bringing together over 40 participants for a half-day focused on connection, education, and LGBTQ+ community empowerment.

Pride Pathways: Su***de Prevention for LGBTQ+ Communities and Allies is an AFSP program designed to deepen understanding of how su***de impacts the LGBTQ+ community.

Ciara Myst, a local Indianapolis drag artist and RuPaul's Drag Race season 18 contestant, kicked off the event with opening remarks followed by the core Pride Pathways presentation and two breakout session.

"I walked away with a sense of pride that the residents of our small but mighty community continue to show up and show out for LGBTQIA+ advocacy, mental health support, and su***de prevention."
