September 1st marks the first day of Su***de Prevention Month, and the City of Indianapolis - Government is honored to commemorate the essential work carried out by professionals, organizations, and friendly neighbors to prevent su***de and encourage others to seek help. We also wish to honor lives lost to su***de and their surviving loved ones.

This acknowledgment was created alongside our friends at the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP), whose work and dedication are instrumental to destigmatizing mental health and creating safe spaces to talk about su***de prevention.

If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress, thoughts of self-harm, or a mental health crisis, the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline is here to help. Visit www.indy.gov/care for Connect Care Indy, a trusted hub for mental health resources, including how to engage with our mobile crisis team, and www.indy.gov/mentalhealth for upcoming events and opportunities to learn more about su***de prevention.
