This chart shows how migration has caused a redistribution of wealth throughout the Hudson Valley. Remote work has been a particularly strong force, allowing wealthier households to live farther away from the New York City metro area while keeping their city-based jobs. This has affected communities north of I-84 the most. The counties of Columbia and Ulster have continued to see the biggest disparity between the incomes of those moving into and out of their counties. This trend has been steady for the past four reporting cycles.
