💡✨ Got an idea that would make Newburgh even more awesome?

Awesome Newburgh is awarding $1,000 to bring one bold, creative, community-loving idea to life — and the next deadline is April 6 (the first Monday of the month)!

Whether it’s art, neighbors helping neighbors, a pop-up event, a beautification project, or something wonderfully unexpected — we want to hear about it.

Big ideas. Small ideas. First-time ideas.
$1,000 can go a long way. 😉

Apply by April 6 before midnight.

✨ Honorable Mention from the Awesome Newburgh Foundation goes to Marlene Kryza in Ward One ✨

I’ve lived in Newburgh for three years and have grown to deeply love this town and its people — which is why it breaks my heart to see small piles of trash scattered through my neighborhood. I once heard someone say, “If the government doesn’t care, why should the people care?”

I can’t relate to that. I care anyway.

So I’ve started doing something simple: taking long walks and picking up what I can. It’s small, and it’s not everything, but I keep reminding myself — anything is better than nothing.

Maybe if I do it every day, someone else who feels the same way will realize they’re not alone. And along the way, I’ve met neighbors, shared conversations, and even helped carry a piece of furniture or two.

I’m just a working artist trying to live humbly and put my energy into what matters.

Because I really believe this: every person is a walking advertisement for their values.
And this is the message I want to spread — care, pride, and community. 💛🧹🌿

“Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo” — Only the people can save the people. That message is at the heart of the Newburgh Community Preparedness Project, a grassroots effort led by Newburgh Resists to strengthen safety, solidarity, and community response in the face of escalating and increasingly harmful immigration enforcement.

We’re proud to share that Awesome Newburgh just awarded $1,000 to support this work!

This spring we’ll be hosting a series of community-based training workshops, including:
✊ Peaceful protest + de-escalation/safety marshal training
📢 Know Your Rights + Rapid Response preparedness for residents
🏫 School preparedness training for educators and school staff
⚖️ Immigration law training for legal practitioners

✨ Awesome Newburgh Foundation deadline is Monday March 2nd at 11:59pm ✨

Each month, the Awesome Newburgh Foundation awards $1,000 to a project that helps make Newburgh an even more vibrant, creative, and connected place to live.

We welcome all ideas—big or small—and we especially love seeing collaborations that bring neighbors together.

Because at the end of the day, we can’t do it alone… and that’s exactly what makes Newburgh awesome. 💛🏙️🤝
