Time for another Pupdate! 💚🐾

Last October, we learned that Sabboth was matched with his forever person! He is guiding a gentleman in his 50s from Missouri and is his person’s fifth Seeing Eye Dog! Sabboth will be accompanying his new dad to endless adventures both in their hometown and across the country as he visits his children.

Congratulations to Sabboth, his graduate, and his puppy raisers! Guide safely, Sabboth! 💚

Past pup Betty is here with another Formal Training Pupdate!

In June, Betty had her town walk where she proudly showed her raisers everything she learned at The Seeing Eye. Her raisers got to see her confidence and all the hard work she has put into her training. We are so proud of Betty and all she has accomplished, and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next!

Congratulations to Betty and her puppy raisers! We have our fingers and paws crossed for a perfect match soon!

On Tuesday, several of our puppies attended an event at the Wilmington Boys and Girls Club! They got to meet and get pets from kids of varying ages as well as the Boys & Girls Club employees! This was a great experience for the puppies to practice ignoring their fellow puppy friends while also practicing polite greeting!

Introducing Maggie!

Maggie is a 10-month-old sable female German Shepherd from the Gemma and King litter! She joined our club in May and is her raisers’ second puppy! Maggie loves other dogs and is always interested in a walk. Maggie’s favorite place to work is in the health center at St. Andrew’s school!

We can’t wait to see what else she does in the future!

Time for another Pupdate! 💚🦮

Last July, we learned that Herb found his match! His forever person is a history teacher in his late twenties, and together they’re ready to start their new adventure in Florida.

Herb’s charm, enthusiasm, reliability, and hard work have earned him the nickname “Herbalicious” and the admiration of everyone he met during training. Their bond was strong and instantaneous, such that his person picked out chocolate-colored sunglasses to align with Herb’s handsome qualities. Apparently, Herb proved himself to be both a reliable and stylish guide!

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the love and effort of Herb’s raisers, whose dedication made him the extraordinary guide dog he is today. We celebrate Herb as he moves towards his exciting future together with his match.

Next up in our “Meet the Pups” series is Briegs!

Briegs is a 10-month-old sable male German Shepherd from the Carly and Guidewell Donald litter. He is his raiser’s sixth Seeing Eye puppy and enjoys accompanying his raiser on all sorts of outings like doctor’s appointments, stores, and malls. He shows lots of confidence in these situations and has no fear of anything new that his raiser exposes him to. Briegs has become best friends with his raiser’s career change German shepherd, Marshall, and they love playing together. He also lives with a cat named Pretty Boy, and Briegs loves visiting with him!

We have loved watching you grow, Briegs!

Yesterday, Atlas celebrated his first birthday! He spent the day snuggling with his raisers and playing with his best buddy CC Ciano. Today, he has a play date planned with his puppy club friends, Fortune and Tilly!

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing some Formal Training Pupdates with you!

Starting off our Pupdates is Miss Epic! After returning for training this past January, she has been hard at work learning how to be an amazing guide dog! She had her town walk this past June and is ready to be matched with her forever person! We are so proud of you, Epic! Congratulations to her puppy raisers for raising another wonderful puppy!

On Saturday, several of our club’s puppy raisers made a trip up to Morristown for the Seeing Eye’s annual Family Day celebration. This fun event honors our wonderful volunteer puppy raising community and lets us see and learn about where our puppies go after they leave us! We had a chance to tour the campus, speak to and learn from Seeing Eye staff from all departments, hear from graduates, and see our puppies’ baby photos from when they were 5 weeks old.

This year’s Family Day was extra special because one of our past pups, Henry, was chosen to be a demo dog and showed us how he guides his instructor around all sorts of obstacles!

Next up for our “Meet the Pups” series is Frances! She and her raiser just joined us after graduating from the University of Delaware in May!

Frances is an almost 11-month-old female Golden retriever from the Ina and Otto litter. When she’s excited her whole body moves not just her tail, and she always greets people with a toy in her mouth! Frances is her raiser’s fourth Seeing Eye puppy!

We’re so happy to have you with us, Frances! 💚
