Delaware’s offshore wind debate is now about far more than renewable energy.

The Delaware Supreme Court upheld SB159, allowing the US Wind substation project to move forward — but major questions still remain involving local control, fisheries, rising energy costs, grid reliability, environmental review, and ongoing state & federal legal challenges.

CRI remains actively involved as the debate over Delaware’s energy future continues.

Delaware’s Battery Storage Plan Could Cost Ratepayers BILLIONS

A new analysis reveals Delaware’s proposed battery storage buildout could approach $3.8 BILLION in projected costs over the next decade — while the study cited only $764 million in measurable grid benefits.

Who pays for the batteries, charging costs, and backup power still required to keep the grid reliable?

Delaware families and businesses deserve the full picture before lawmakers commit ratepayers to another massive long-term energy program.

Delaware lawmakers are voting to permanently hand control of your tax dollars to union negotiators, written into the state constitution. No future vote can undo it.

The state’s own fiscal watchdog confirmed it would affect healthcare and pensions, some of the biggest things your taxes pay for.

Once it’s in the constitution, it’s there forever.

Today, we are proud to officially announce the Caesar Rodney Institute’s Caesar Rodney 250 Initiative and Delaware’s participation in the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. as part of America’s 250th Anniversary celebration. Partnering with Freedom 250!

Through the Delaware Pavilion, visitors from across the nation will experience the story of the First State — from Caesar Rodney’s legendary midnight ride that helped secure Delaware’s vote for independence, to the people, agriculture, beaches, businesses, communities, and innovation that continue to shape Delaware today.

This project is about more than history. It is about telling Delaware’s story on a national stage and reminding future generations why the ideals of liberty, independence, civic responsibility, and American leadership still matter.

The pavilion will feature immersive exhibits, educational experiences, interactive storytelling, family-friendly activities, and opportunities for visitors to engage directly with Delaware’s unique role in the founding of the United States.

As America prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence, Delaware — The First State — will proudly help tell the story of our nation.

We look forward to partnering with organizations, businesses, educators, historians, volunteers, and Delawareans from every corner of the state as we build this once-in-a-generation project together.

More details, sponsorship opportunities, and volunteer information can be found at the website in the comments.

Just Released: More than half of Delaware's third graders can't read at grade level when they start the school year. Delaware law says struggling readers should be held back. But here's the problem: no one is tracking whether that's actually happening.
Nancy Mercante and the Caesar Rodney Institute examined the data — and what they found raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in Delaware's literacy policy. Read the full article and share it with your legislators.

Delaware has a law requiring struggling third-grade readers to be held back and given additional support—but no one is publicly tracking whether it’s actually working. While other states report results and show measurable gains, Delaware families and policymakers are left without clear answers. ...

DNREC said the recent Frederica tornado is "what climate change looks like in Delaware." But Delaware's own data tell a different story.
DNREC’s Climate Claims vs. Delaware’s Data

DNREC says recent storms are “what climate change looks like.” But Delaware’s own data tells a different story. From tornado trends to drought cycles, the numbers show variability—not the clear, worsening patterns often claimed.

⚡ Why Is Your Electric Bill So High?

A new bill in Dover promoting “balcony solar” sounds like a quick way to lower your electric bill — but the reality may be much bigger.

Rising electricity costs in Delaware are being driven by energy policy, grid reliability challenges, and potential shifts to time-of-use pricing. Balcony solar might save a few dollars, but it doesn’t address the real drivers behind higher bills.

Several court cases challenging Delaware’s offshore wind approvals are actively moving forward.

The Delaware Court of Chancery is reviewing the constitutional challenge to SB 159. DNREC permit approvals remain under appeal. And federal litigation continues after a recent dismissal of US Wind’s counterclaim.

Three separate legal tracks. Significant constitutional and regulatory questions. Ongoing judicial review.

Why Does It Take So Long to Get a Doctor’s Appointment in Delaware?

Delaware families hear this far too often. Long waits for primary care, specialists, and even cancer appointments aren’t random — they’re the result of policies that restrict competition and limit healthcare supply.

Delaware’s Certificate-of-Need (CON) law creates barriers for new providers, reducing access, choice, and driving up costs.

It’s time to remove the roadblocks and let competition improve care for patients across our state.
