Meet Erica, one of five runners on Team Start Small Think Big at this year's TCS New York City Marathon 🏃‍♀️!

Erica likes to move fast, on the course and in life. She admits she's caught herself pushing teams faster than they're built to move, and she sees that same tension in small business owners every day. They're expected to handle strategy, marketing, HR, taxes and legal, all while actually running the business.

That's why she's running for entrepreneurs in November: "Start Small Think Big addresses this at scale, opening the door for business owners to ask for, and receive, practical support that helps them go the distance."

Her race-day motto: Start Small. Think Big. Go Far Together. Her fuel: the biggest bagel she can find. 🥯

Meet Dan, one of five runners on Team Start Small Think Big at this year's TCS New York City Marathon! 🏃

This is Dan's first marathon, and his reason for running will sound familiar to every business owner: "I'm running my first marathon to achieve a personal goal, just as so many entrepreneurs go the distance to achieve their own goals."

Dan has spent much of his career close to the financial side of small business. Before becoming General Counsel at Magic Eden, he worked at the New York State Department of Financial Services on financial inclusion for small businesses, including access to loans and banking.

His race-day plan? Pasta the night before and a banana at the starting line. He jokes that if his kids ever agree to run with him, that'll be the real headline. 😄

Every dollar Dan raises helps entrepreneurs access experienced legal and financial professionals at no cost. The team's goal is $25,000 by November 1.

Entrepreneurs go the distance every day. This November, five runners are going the distance for them. 🏅

Small business owners often face legal and financial questions that can shape the future of their business, like a lease to negotiate, a contract to review, or finances to get in order. Start Small Think Big connects entrepreneurs with experienced legal and financial professionals who bring that expertise at no cost. Five runners are taking on the New York City Marathon to help more entrepreneurs get that access:

🏃 Matt, a small business owner and marathon veteran, is paying it forward. And yes, he's wearing the Dunkin' beanie all the way to the finish.

Meet Brendan Landry, the newest member of our team.

Before joining Start Small this summer, Brendan spent his career helping entrepreneurs grow. As Chief Program Officer at CommonWealth Kitchen, he helped food business owners move out of shared kitchen space and into storefronts of their own. He's also led lending programs and co-founded a community development financial institution built to serve entrepreneurs in under-resourced communities.

That's the experience Brendan now brings to our partnerships with the law firms and financial institutions who connect entrepreneurs with experienced legal and financial professionals — at no cost.

The Bronx showed up big for small business last week!

Our team joined Accompany Capital's Small Business Resource Fair at La Central YMCA, and Start Small's Arli spent the morning meeting business with entrepreneurs from across the neighborhood.
