Karen Lynne Siegel '65,'67 & Sharon Marilyn Leichman Waks '69: "We met in the Autumn of 1962. We were acting, singing and mainly dancing in the many Queens College musical and theatre productions launched by Dr. Raymond Gasper. I was a bridesmaid at Sharon's marriage in 1961! Through terrible historical times we persisted. Through it all, we got a brilliant education- both formal and life-lessons, learned well.

Sharon died 2 years ago now. I'm still "Aunt Karen" to her beloved children and grandsons and extended family. I'm still bereft. Her memory is an inspiration and blessing to our lives.

Thank you forever, Queens College, for giving me such a fine education; timeless friendships and true empowerment of my deepest potentials!" - Karen '65/'67

:Constance Waters Née Heyl '51 & Frances Burke Née Frederick '51: "Frances and I met in 8th grade in 1943. We didn’t hit it off right away, but after the first two weeks, we became bosom buddies. We were both interested in Spanish and signed up. We then ventured forward to Flushing High School, where we majored in Spanish and took French, graduating in 1947.

We then went to Queens College, again majoring in Spanish, minoring in French. Frances and I, always together, joined the Spanish Club and entered Beta Sigma Omicron singing “If you know Beta, like we know Sigma – O, O…Omicron.” We also took summer jobs together and worked at the Registrar’s office between semesters. We saw many Spanish plays together in Greenwich Village. We graduated in 1951, the last of the February graduating classes. After that all the classes graduated in June.

We were inseparable until we married. I, in 1951 and Frances in 1954. We then moved to New Jersey (two separate towns) where we both gave birth to and raised two girls. We were die-hard New Yorkers who became “Jersey Girls”!

Although we didn’t get to see each other that much anymore, we still kept in touch and were very close and kept out friendship going for many years following graduation, until Frances died in 2001, at the age of 71.

I am now 96 years old and think of Frances often. I will always cherish the special bond we shared and look back at our years together at Queens College with so many fond memories." - Constance '51
