Studio Artist Instructor Kathy Creutzburg recently brought her creative practice to the screen as production designer for River of Ink, a short film by Abanar.

The film explores the story of a student isolated in an abandoned classroom, interacting with the relics of a once fruitful past. Kathy’s production design helped create a metaphorical, visually engaging setting that works alongside the film’s dance choreography.

River of Ink will screen this Thursday, October 15 at 10 PM at Cinema Village as part of the New York Shorts International Film Festival.

Congratulations, Kathy! We encourage our community to view River of Ink and support this exciting creative project.

“Exhibitions are an essential part of the artistic practice.”

Nicola Giardina, Studio’s Senior Director of Programs, shared these words at the opening of Young Visions 2026 alongside her colleague Anna Bida, Coordinator of Exhibitions & Professional Development.

Our annual year-end exhibition, Young Visions, generously hosted at Christie's, is one of the many special opportunities Studio students have to share their work with peers, families, and their communities. It’s a chance to celebrate their hard work, creative growth, and artistic development throughout the year.

Today is World Smile Day! 😊

Nothing makes us smile more than knowing that, over the past nearly 50 years, we’ve helped bring art education to more than 1 million students.

This artwork, created in 1988 by then–Studio Student Lumi T. from P.S. 97 in Brooklyn, is a beautiful reflection of that legacy.

Enjoy a happy moment by exploring more student artwork at studioinaschool.org.

This is the final month to experience P.S. Art 2026 in person at The Met!

Among the featured artworks is this piece by Sangya Chemjung, a 12th-grade student at Newtown High School. Studio was proud to honor Sangya with the Studio Award for Excellence in the Arts, including $1,000 toward future artistic endeavors.

Studio is proud to partner with New York City Public Schools and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York to bring this stunning exhibition of student artwork to life, and to continue supporting graduating seniors with resources to expand their artmaking.

We’ll leave you with Sangya’s words about this piece:

"I aim to highlight the deep-rooted harmony between animals and their habitat and to remind people how much we need to respect and protect the environment. Being an artist has totally changed how I communicate, turning my random inner thoughts into a visual language that’s helped me figure out who I am. I’m obsessed with printmaking because the layers are irreversible—like how nature has its own cycles that can’t be undone."
