We promote the well-being of seniors 60 and older through a continuum of services, advocacy, arts and culture, health and wellness and volunteer programs, all oriented to individual, family and community needs.

This year, we served more than 149,000 meals, and helped our members stay:
🤝 Connected through our older adult centers, shared meals, and community
🎨 Creative through arts education, intergenerational programs, and the Carter Burden Gallery
🧡Cared for through social services, case management, and health and wellness support

Today, we celebrate the people who have shaped our families, our neighborhoods, and our communities through a lifetime of stories, wisdom, love, and resilience. 🧡

On International Day of Older Persons, we honor older adults not just for the years they have lived, but for all they continue to bring to the world. Their laughter, friendship, memories, creativity, and connection.

At Carter Burden Network, we are grateful to be part of a community where older New Yorkers can feel seen, valued, supported, and connected. Today and every day, we celebrate you. ✨

At CBN, we’re proud to celebrate the journeys of individuals whose growth and determination inspire those around them.

This week’s Above and Beyond spotlight is on Ajuwon, whose journey began as a volunteer with Birch Family Services at the Bill Dionne Luncheon Club. Birch Family Services creates opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to build skills, connect with their communities, and reach their goals.

For Ajuwon, volunteering was just the beginning. He went from supporting the Luncheon Club as a volunteer to becoming an employee, turning a meaningful experience into an opportunity to grow professionally. Today, Ajuwon brings his dedication, positivity, and enthusiasm to his work at CBN. His Employment Specialist, Luigi, calls him a “ray of sunshine,” a wonderful reflection of the warmth and positivity he brings to those around him.

We’re proud to celebrate Ajuwon and all that he continues to accomplish! 🧡

At CBN, we’re grateful for the meaningful connections that remind us that no one should feel alone. Through friendship, compassion, and a little extra support, our community continues to make a difference in the lives of older adults.

This week’s Above and Beyond spotlight is on Neel and Peter, whose friendship grew through CBN’s Friendly Visiting Program. Neel volunteers as a friendly visitor to Peter, a homebound older adult. Through their visits, they’ve built a meaningful connection rooted in conversation, companionship, and care. For Peter, having someone regularly check in and spend time with him has brought connection and friendship into his home.

Through CBN’s Friendly Visiting Program, Peter was also able to receive a new walker, helping him feel more supported and confident in getting around safely.

Thank you, Neel, for giving your time and friendship, and for being part of CBN’s Friendly Visiting Program in helping create connections that truly make a difference.

At Carter Burden Network, we believe that everyone deserves connection, support, and a sense of belonging. Through our programs and services, we help older adults stay engaged, build meaningful connections, and access the support they need.
