As we continue celebrating Black Philanthropy Month, we thank the Greater New Orleans Foundation for its continued partnership and investment in our community.

During GNOF’s Celebration of Black Philanthropy, Jericho Road was recognized as one of the 2026 Dr. Norman C. Francis Endowment for Racial Equity grantees, alongside 15 mission-driven organizations serving the Greater New Orleans region. The fund supports nonprofits working to advance racial equity, address systemic inequities, and build wealth in the African American community.

As Jericho Road celebrates 20 years of service and impact, this funding will strengthen our efforts to expand access to affordable homeownership and help families build lasting stability and generational wealth across Southeast Louisiana.

Earlier this month, members of the Jericho Road team, alongside our Executive Director, joined residents, advocates, and community leaders from across Louisiana at the 2026 People’s Constitutional Convention in Baton Rouge. We were also proud to have Jericho Road Board Member Dr. Lucas Díaz help lead sessions throughout the day.

The gathering gave Louisianans an opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another, build relationships, and have meaningful conversations about the future of our state.

At Jericho Road, we serve families and communities throughout Southeast Louisiana, and we see firsthand how public policy impacts access to affordable housing, employment opportunities, and the resources communities need to thrive. That’s why community voices must be part of the decisions that shape our neighborhoods and our future.

On July 2, 1964, the Civil Rights Act was signed into law, changing the course of our nation and strengthening the fight for equality.

More than 60 years later, that work is not finished.

The decisions made by our elected leaders shape where affordable housing is built, how communities are invested in, and access to employment and economic opportunity. That’s why voting and civic participation matter. Our voices have a role in shaping the policies that impact our neighborhoods and our lives.

At Jericho Road, we believe everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home and the opportunity to live a thriving life.

This month, we reflect on the legacy of the Civil Rights Act and recommit ourselves to the work of building more equitable communities.
