Our Green Leaf Communities Initiative (GLCI) equips faith communities in vulnerable parishes to design and implement localized green infrastructure projects that reduce climate footprint, improve water quality, and build community capacity.

Dive into everything you need to know β€” what the initiative is, how it works, who's involved, where we stand, and what's coming next.

Dear Senator:

The Greater New Orleans Interfaith Climate Coalition is an organization of people of multiple faiths committed to the care of the earth and its people. We strongly oppose HB 804 and ask for your NO vote. Our reasons are straightforward.

Louisiana and its people are profoundly impacted by the continuing warming of the earth, air and oceans. We are experiencing progressive land loss due to continuing sea level rise, more powerful hurricanes due to an ever-warmer gulf, excessive heat due to rising temperatures, increasing insurance rates due to increased risks, and multiple health problems due to heat and polluted air and water.

HB 804 leaves our people with no means of redress. As such, HB 804 undermines the Constitutional principles of equal protection and access to the courts, a terrible backwards step for our democracy.

Scripture teaches that we are called to be stewards of God’s creationβ€”to care for it, not to allow harm without accountability. This bill risks taking away the ability of communities, especially the most vulnerable, to seek justice when their land, water, and health are damaged. The Bible calls us to β€˜speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves’ and to act justly. Limiting access to the courts does the opposite.

Faith also teaches that we are responsible for our actions. When harm is done, there must be accountability. Without it, justice is weakened.

Finally, we have a moral obligation to future generations. The decisions we make today will shape the world our children inherit.

For these reasons, we respectfully urge you to oppose HB 804.

Thank you.

Today we celebrate Earth Day, a reminder of how connected we all are to the natural world around us.

Louisiana’s wetlands, forests, rivers, and wildlife are part of what makes our state special. Protecting these places ensures clean water, healthy ecosystems, and thriving habitats for generations to come.

Every action matters. Whether it’s planting native plants, reducing waste, supporting conservation efforts, or simply spending time outdoors, we can all play a role in caring for the Earth.
