☀️ Thank you for making Sun Day so special!

We’re still feeling the energy from this year’s Sun Day celebration! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate renewable energy, climate justice, and the power of community with us.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible community partners, organizations, artists, educators, and volunteers who helped make the day possible. Your work, knowledge, creativity, and commitment to a more just and sustainable future are what make events like this so meaningful.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who attended, shared, learned, danced, connected, and celebrated with us!

We’re so grateful for this community and excited to keep building a healthier, more resilient, and more sustainable New Orleans together.

SPOTLIGHT! Sun Day Welcomes Ryan Mattingly from Louisiana Green Corps

Louisiana Green Corps provides career-building opportunities for people aspiring to improve their lives and impact our community, training cohorts of participants 18-35 in green infrastructure and construction trades — with pathways into registered apprenticeships and living-wage work.

Through our standing partnership with Solar Alternatives, Feed the Second Line and Together New Orleans, we are extending that pipeline into clean energy, connecting participants to hands-on work around solar and neighborhood resilience hubs such as Get Lit Stay Lit and Community Lighthouse projects, and to the employers hiring for Louisiana's growing renewable workforce.

Together New Orleans (TNO) is a broad-based network bringing together congregations, unions, and neighborhood associations, to build relationships, develop community leaders, and take action on the issues affecting New Orleans families. Their work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: New Orleans changes when organized people act together.

From community solar and energy reform to disaster resilience, Together New Orleans is helping communities build the power to shape a more equitable, resilient future for our city.

Southeastern Wind Coalition mission is to advance the land-based and offshore wind industry in the Southeast in a way that benefits residents, industry, and utilities. They host tours of wind projects around the region and educate communities and policymakers about the benefits of wind energy.

At SUN DAY, stop by their table to make your own wind turbine and learn about how wind energy can contribute to a resilient, diversified energy grid in Louisiana!

☀️Todd Reynolds —

💡Todd will share more about the Solar Resilience Program, a community-based initiative combining clean energy, workforce development, and emergency preparedness. The program brings solar-powered infrastructure to underserved communities while creating opportunities to build skills in renewable energy and green infrastructure.

🚲 Cathy Laurino — Down by the River Program Coordinator, Louisiana Bucket Brigade

💡Cathy will share more about Down by the River (DBTR), a guided environmental justice experience along the Mississippi River levee in St. Charles Parish. The 7-mile bike ride explores the history of “Cancer Alley,” connecting Black history, community storytelling, and the ongoing fight for environmental justice.
