A giant thank you and woot woot to our “Creative Outlet” Collage Workshop presenter Bethanie Mangigian and awesome collage enthusiasts (including Mystic Krewe of Scissors & Glue)- this was fuuuuuun!!! We had our first official M.E.S.S. Lab birthday request!! Thank you and happy day to Jelagat and her friends for thinking to celebrate here with us! They recycled 22 gallons of party colors, made some noise, and even used the bday bounce house (ie trampoline)!!! Spending time with friends while service learning and supporting a lil’ nonprofit is pretty darn cool, and we are grateful for community members who want to party that way!! No doubt their colors will bring the festivities to whatever room they end up in so come get it while available! And wish Jelagat a happy birthday!! 🥳🎉🎊♻️

It’s almost deadline time for the Salvations 2026 design competition so we want to want to introduce our wonderful judges!

Aubrey Avocado is a content creator and marketing professional in New Orleans who tries to use her platform to uplift important causes, make people laugh, and increase voter turnout. She was selected to be a Salvations judge for her dedication towards sustainability
causes.

Sara Perez Ekanger is a proud Latina and founder of Antigua Floral —a floral studio rooted in artistry, intention, and soul. San Francisco Bay Area born and New Orleans based, she finds inspiration in long runs, good coffee, thoughtful design, and creating celebrations that people remember long after the flowers have faded. Inspired by her Salvadorian heritage, nature, and the communities that shaped her.

Kareem Elsandouby Kareem Sandouby is an architectural designer and artist based in New Orleans with a passion for design. As a previous Salvation artist, he’s excited to return this year as a judge and celebrate the incredible talent of local artists. Through his work in architecture and the arts, Kareem is committed to supporting and growing the local creative community. He looks forward to seeing this year’s inspiring submissions and the unique ideas each artist brings to the event.

New Orleans-based artist, Alex Harvie Alex Harvie is know for his studio paintings, live event painting performances, and large-scale commissions with an international presence. Harvie combines representational work with abstraction and is a fixture in the New Orleans art scene, performing live at cultural, corporate, and private events worldwide.

Nick Perrin is an educator, designer, and fabricator. He is a Professor of Practice at the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment. With Maya Alexander, he co-founded Port Studio, a design firm in New Orleans. The practice concerns itself with architecture, furniture, millwork, and objects.
Nick’s background in Carpentry, Art History and Architecture, are the foundations of his approach to Design.
