Don’t let industry lobbyists push through their agenda at the expense of our land, wildlife and communities - take action today! Here's an update from the Healthy Gulf Blog. We must urge our Senators to hold polluting corporations accountable for their actions.

The Louisiana state Senate could vote as soon as today on legislation that would take away parishes’ ability to defend our wetlands - take action now!

"In the midst of a pandemic, perhaps we look even harder to make meaning of our shared human experience. Today, what seems to resonate widely with people is that the Earth is somehow taking revenge: "Is the Covid-19 Pandemic Mother Nature’s Response to Human Transgression?" asks one writer (in a widely distributed post), as if we humans are somehow separate from the world." Even during the heart of the pandemic facing us currently, we must be mindful that New Orleans still remains vulnerable to flooding that will only make things more difficult. Here is some information on Green Infrastructure which is what Healthy Gulf is working to promote among policy-makers and community members throughout the year, and also during this trying time. Rainwater flows quickly over impermeable pavement, like concrete. If that water can be slowed down, held, or absorbed, less flooding will happen. Simple projects like installing a rain garden or rain barrel in your yard can help reduce the risk of flooding on your property.
