When times were hard, the Mission’s doors remained open.

The Great Depression brought tremendous hardship to families and communities across the country—including right here in New Castle. City Rescue Mission was still a young ministry, but during one of the most difficult periods in our nation’s history, it continued to be a place where people in need could turn for help and hear the hope of the Gospel.

Resources were limited. The needs were great. Yet God remained faithful, providing what was needed to carry the ministry through those difficult years. More than nine decades later, that same calling remains at the heart of City Rescue Mission: to be here when our neighbors need us most and to remind them that, even in the hardest seasons, there is hope in Jesus Christ.

Times change. Needs change. God’s faithfulness does not.

It all started with a simple conversation.

Some shared struggles. Some spoke of hardships they’re still walking through. Others shared hope restored, faith renewed, and a God who never let them go. Some brought perspectives from serving our community, as local officials, first responders, business leaders, and agency partners, and shared their heart for the people who call it home.

We listened. We laughed. We were reminded how much it matters to be seen, heard, and loved. Through it all, God was glorified.

Everyone has a story. And every story matters. Let’s keep the conversations going this Sunday, October 18, at Sunday Brunch at the Mission, 10 AM–2 PM. Come share a meal and a little of your story. There’s a place for you at our table.

THANK YOU for an incredible 24 hours of Conversations on a Bench! ❤️

What an amazing 24 hours filled with meaningful conversations, powerful stories, encouragement, and reminders of what happens when a community comes together.

We are so grateful for everyone who prayed, watched, shared, encouraged, and helped make this event possible. As we celebrate 115 years of ministry, we continue to stand in awe of God’s faithfulness and the many ways He brings people together to share His love and hope.

Our prayer is that these conversations would not end here. We pray that God would continue to use them to open hearts, build stronger relationships, deepen understanding, and move our community to respond with compassion, truth, and the hope of Jesus Christ.

Please continue praying with us for every life impacted, every seed planted, and every conversation still to come.

To God be the glory! ❤️
