Today young women in our SHE WORKS program spent the afternoon at for a Lunch and Learn on careers in mental health. They received direct access to employers and conversations with women leading the work.

They heard from: Liz Moore (Director of Community Relations), Dr. Alexis Briggie (Director of Psychology), Immacula Cann (Chief Nursing Officer), Nicole Coarse (Senior Admissions Coordinator), Dr. Laura Gardner (Director of the Psychotic Disorders Program), Dr. Liz Ortiz-Schwartz (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist), Katie Suss (Aftercare and Assessment Program Coordinator), and Dr. Amy Swift (Deputy Chief Medical Officer).

Thank you to our partner Silver Hill Hospital for opening their doors, and showing young women what’s possible in mental health careers.

As part of LiveGirl’s SHE CARES initiative, Shenique Nibbs engaged in an important conversation with LiveGirl intern Alexa Molina about the challenges teens face today due to social media and ongoing pressures.

The need for these discussions extends beyond Mental Health Awareness Month. SHE CARES is dedicated to providing girls with safe spaces and trusted mentors for support when life feels overwhelming.

Mentor and mentee sign-ups are available year-round, encouraging continuous connection and guidance.

Sometimes it’s the small things that matter most.

A hot lunch, a journal with her name in it, a counselor who remembered what she said on day one.

For a lot of the girls who come to Camp LiveGirl, this is the first place they’ve ever felt like they truly belonged, and that doesn’t happen by accident.

This summer we’re working to make that experience possible for 75 girls who couldn’t otherwise afford to come.
