Igniting Innovation: OSS Welcomes Young Engineers to the RoboRumble!

At Our Sisters’ School, robotics is more than building and programming robots. It's about inspiring creativity, strengthening problem-solving skills, and empowering students to think critically, collaborate, and tackle challenges with confidence!

We're excited to bring that same spirit of innovation to the wider community as OSS hosts the New Bedford RoboRumble on Sunday, November 15!

Young engineers ages 9–16 are invited to put their skills to the test in a fun-filled robotics competition featuring robot soccer, obstacle courses, and King of the Hill challenges!

Event Details:
Sunday, November 15 | 9 AM–2 PM
Our Sisters’ School, New Bedford
Robots provided | Teams of 2–6 students

Open to schools and community teams!

From our campus to UMass Dartmouth!

Our OSS students took center stage at this year’s STEM4Girls conference at UMass Dartmouth!

More than half of our students participated in this inspiring event, joining 200 girls from across the SouthCoast to explore science, technology, and innovation.

Eighteen OSS students stepped into leadership roles as keynote speakers and workshop facilitators, sharing their knowledge, creativity, and passion for STEM with the next generation of innovators.

Since 2016, STEM4Girls has been an incredible opportunity for OSS students to learn, lead, and inspire others while exploring the possibilities of STEM.

Thank you to UMass Dartmouth and Kaput Center for Research & Innovation in STEM Education for another wonderful opportunity to show what’s possible when students are empowered to lead!

Through our partnership with Community Boating Center, OSS students take to the water each week, building confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a love for sailing. And for many, those opportunities continue long after graduation!

This summer, OSS graduates Nia ’20 and Anyis ’22 were among eight youth sailors who competed in the Newport Bermuda Race aboard Crazy Horse as part of CBC's Youth Offshore Program. The incredible accomplishment followed years of preparation, training, and dedication.

We are so proud of Nia and Anyis and grateful for community partners like CBC who create meaningful opportunities for our students and graduates to challenge themselves, discover new passions, and continue growing beyond OSS.

The OSS experience doesn't end at graduation, and neither do the opportunities!

This week, we’re celebrating International Day of the Girls by sharing the voices, stories, and individuality of our students!

Through self-portrait photography, our learners were invited to share a piece of themselves with their community.

These portraits offer a glimpse into the unique perspectives, experiences, and identities that make each student who she is. By sharing their stories, our girls honor their voices while building a community rooted in connection, understanding, and empathy.

Today is International Day of the Girl, a day to celebrate the ideas, curiosity, courage, creativity, and ambition of girls everywhere.

At Our Sisters’ School, we see every day what becomes possible when girls are given the opportunities, support, and space to discover their strengths and imagine what comes next.

Today, we celebrate our students and graduates , the ways they are learning, leading, contributing to their communities, and shaping their futures.

Here’s to investing in girls today and all they will make possible tomorrow!

Sister Sailors out to Sea!

This past week, our 6th graders embarked on an unforgettable three-day open-sea expedition aboard the Denis Sullivan, a three-masted schooner.

Students became part of the crew, learning firsthand what it takes to sail a schooner. They hoisted sails, coiled ropes, scrubbed decks, worked as a team, and experienced life at sea.

Built in 2000 as a replica of a 19th-century Great Lakes schooner, the Denis Sullivan brings maritime history to life for hundreds of young sailors each year. We were thrilled to have this incredible vessel stop in the Port of New Bedford and even more excited that our Sister Sailors had the chance to climb aboard!

Adventure, teamwork, and learning beyond the classroom. That’s OSS!

Thank you, World Ocean School for this amazing opportunity for our 6th graders!
