Columbus Cocker Rescue

Columbus Cocker Rescue Breed specific rescue in Ohio focused on saving most at risk American cocker spaniels/cocker mixes.
(1)

We Rescue, Rehabilitate, provide medical care, evaluate and search for the right adoptive homes for our cockers and other “doggie friends” to continue to be nurtured & loved after they leave us. We are a foster home based program, and do not have a central location. All of our adoptable dogs are in private foster homes in and around the Columbus OH area, being treated like any other member of a lo

ving family prior to being adopted. During times of crisis, until a foster home can be found, we may have the cockers in temporary short term boarding, prior to moving to a foster home.

Send your congratulations to Tim & Lisa as they welcome Mac & Cheese (now Mac & Marley) into their home! The boys were so happy to continue on their adventure together. They were found as strays together on May 10 and 18 days later are living the good life. I’m sure they were so excited to see a large fenced yard!!

Midnight is a lively two-year-old who’s house-trained and does great on a leash. He’s getting along well with his dog siblings and is working on his listening skills. He is full of energy and can’t get enough playtime. He is also a sweet, affectionate snuggler who loves to be close. Midnight’s ready to bring a lot of fun and love to his new home.

He was originally found as a stray by animal control (Columbus Ohio) and redeemed by the owner who then surrendered him to rescue when her landlord said no. Fence required due to his wandering ways & energetic youth! Cats unknown and older children who are respectful are ok.

We recently received the following email:

“It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to you. Coal, our beloved little boy died last evening. He had kidney failure. We are incredibly sad, as this little boy stole my heart the first time I saw him. He and I had a special bond. When I came home in the evening he and Lucy were just so cute and excited running, barking and just being silly. I always told people no one can make you feel better than these two. Coal and Lucy have become good friends. Lucy, who is a sweet, gentle girl, sat for hours the last few days right next to him, as if she knew that was what he needed. Coal truly was a sweet boy. There was not a mean bone in this little boy. I will be forever grateful that you let us adopt him.

Coal passed peacefully in our family room on his favorite pillow. We were by his side. I am so missing my little boy with those big dark eyes”.

Please send Karin your love and condolences as she mourns his loss.

Hey chocolate lovers!! Taco arrived into rescue with Abbie earlier this week from TN. Their human mom recently passed away with no one left to care for them. He is 5 years old & a little timid but warms up quickly. We’re looking for a home where he can receive lots of love. He does well with other dogs and would probably do better with a buddy. Young children & cats are an unknown but he seems like a gentle spirit.

He is scheduled for a dental in June but he can be brought back to our animal hospital (we are in Ohio) by his adopter for that appointment.

If interested, please submit an application or email [email protected] if we’ve already approved you.

Abbie arrived into rescue with Taco earlier this week from TN. Their human mom recently passed away with no one left to care for them. She is 4 years old & needs to slim down. We’re looking for a home where she can receive lots of exercise and measured meals. She does well with other dogs. Young children & cats are an unknown but she seems like a gentle spirit.

She is scheduled for a dental and cherry eye repair but she can be brought back to our animal hospital (we are in Ohio) by her adopter for that appointment.

If interested, please submit an application or email [email protected] if we’ve already approved you.

Saylor is wondering why he’s had little interest in him ☹️. He’s only 2 years old and such a sweet boy who has no concept of personal space. He clearly wants to be a part of everything going on in his foster home!

He is easily entertained by watching birds in his yard and will talk to them through the window.

Older kids are recommended as he can bowl them over with his exuberance.

Does well with dogs but cats are unknown.

Just a reminder to those submitting applications - most vet offices require your permission to speak with us about current & past pets. Please ensure that is done when an application is submitted. That and applications with missing vet (current & previous) or landlord phone numbers significantly slows down the processing of your application if we need to keep contacting you or the vet/landlord!

Thanks
