Located on 98 acres in Nebraska City, Nebraska, we strive to grow the best fruits and vegetables in the Missouri River valley. Ever since Richard and Laurine Kimmel planted their first apple and cherry trees in 1925, they created a destination dedicated to agricultural education, research and historic preservation. Now owned by the Kimmel Orchard Educational Foundation, our orchard is a fun, educa

tional experience for the whole family, and we invite you to visit us for a variety of local, Nebraskan products. We Grow:

From honey-glazed flavors to fresh orchard ingredients, here’s a look at the menu for our Hive to Harvest Dinner in the Orchard. 🐝🍷

Salads:
• Green Salad with salanova greens, napa cabbage, cucumber, and honey + shoyu vinaigrette
• Kimmel Mixed Berry Fruit Salad

Entrée:
• Roasted Pork Loin carving station with ginger-tamari glaze
• Rice pilaf

Not only will Hive to Harvest bring an evening filled with fresh food, local wine, and beautiful orchard views, but guests will also get the opportunity to learn more about the tiny creatures that make so much of it possible: the honeybee. 🐝

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy an Observational Bee Experience hosted by the UNL Bee Lab, offering an up-close look into the fascinating world inside a live honey bee colony. Guests will learn more about bee behavior, hive organization, and the critical role pollinators play in our food systems, all while hearing directly from knowledgeable beekeepers.

From pollinating orchards to supporting agriculture across the country, honeybees have a much bigger impact than most people realize. This hands-on educational experience offers a safe and memorable way to connect with the world of honey bees while enjoying a wonderful evening of food, wine, and honey tasting under the apple trees.

Headlining this incredible night are Grammy Award winners Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley. Ickes, a 15-time IBMA Dobro Player of the Year, and Hensley, a prodigy guitarist and powerhouse vocalist, have been blending bluegrass, blues, and country into one blazing acoustic force since 2015. Known for their white-hot picking and jaw-dropping musicianship, they’ve earned Grammy nominations for albums like 'Before the Sun Goes Down' and took home a 2025 Grammy as part of the Taj Mahal Sextet. Nashville polish meets mountain-fire intensity, and it is something to witness in person.
