Blue Star Mothers of Nebraska Chapter #1

Today we were the hostess to the USS Nebraska while they are on a tour of the state of Nebraska. Nebraska City was just on of the stops they do with the Big Red Sub Club that sponsored their trip here. We get them every other year and this year we only got one day to show them the town. We did a fly in pancake feed at the towns airport,two planes landed for breakfast while we were there. Then to the Civil War Museum and they got to see the old time submarine, for which they were glad to not be aboard it during that time. Then off to the car show where they were a judge and passed out a trophy to the “Sailors Choice” car. We did a meet & greet at Little Ted’s and they were glad for people stopping by chatting with them. Football games, cold b**r, food and most of all getting off our feet. We did five miles today. Thank You again to the crew of the USS Nebraska for being here today and embracing our community.

Sunday the 20th - Please join us for a Meet & Greet at Little Ted's in Nebraska City from 4pm to 6pm. The sailors from the USS Nebraska will be our guest all day with many stops in town. If you don't get a chance to see them around town, this will be the perfect place to come visit with them. *** The USS Nebraska (SSBN-739) is an Ohio-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine in the United States Navy. Known as "Big Red," sharing the moniker with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletic teams. Commissioned: July 10, 1993 ***
