The Ayin Project walks with schools in Uganda to improve clean water access through research, WASH education, and local partnerships, while equipping students at home through internships that connect STEM learning to real-world water challenges.

Today, our Ugandan Water Research & Development Team joined the TAP Summer Internship Speaker Series, giving interns a deeper understanding of the water challenges faced by students in communities around the world.

Through stories, research, and firsthand experience, our interns learned how access to safe water directly impacts student health, attendance, learning outcomes, and overall well-being. For many, it was a powerful reminder that something as simple as clean drinking water can have a profound effect on a child’s ability to thrive in school and in life.

These conversations help broaden perspectives, create connection across continents, and inspire the next generation of leaders to think globally while taking action locally.

A heartfelt thank you to our Ugandan team for sharing their knowledge and experiences with our interns and helping bring these important realities to life.

The TAP Summer Internship is made possible through the collaboration of , , , and , creating opportunities for students to engage in research, media, leadership, and global learning.

Follow the journey at as our interns continue learning, serving, researching, and sharing stories that matter.

It takes a walk-with.

It takes collaboration.

It takes a belief that change is possible. 💧

A repaired water tank may look like a simple infrastructure update, but behind it is a shared commitment.

At each TAP partner school, the need is identified by the school administration first. From there, the solution is built together.

School leaders, staff, and community members contribute what they can, including materials, labour, time, and care. TAP walks alongside them with planning, technical support, hard-to-source materials, and hands-on help.

It is not a handout.

It is shared responsibility.

Each school has signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines their contribution and includes a maintenance plan to help keep the system working long after the repair is complete.

Because when a school helps build the solution, they are better equipped to carry the benefit forward for students, families, and the wider community.

Thank you to the ERM Foundation for joining TAP and our partner schools in this shared effort to improve water access for students.

The 2026 TAP Summer Internship has officially begun. 💧

Interns gathered for orientation, met their facilitators, and stepped into their first group project together.

Today, they grew in confidence with activities designed to help them step forward, use their voices, and grow in trust with one another.

Over the next seven weeks, our paid interns will gain hands-on experience in STEM, research, media, and communication while contributing to meaningful work connected to sustainable water solutions and real-world impact.

We are grateful for the partners walking with us in this work, including Vanderbilt CSEO, MNPS, PowerYouth, and the facilitators and leaders helping make this summer possible.

This is only the beginning, and we cannot wait to see what these interns discover, build, and carry forward. Follow their journey

The tap is working again. 💧 The tank has been repaired.

And behind that simple sentence is something so much bigger.

At each TAP partner school, the need is identified by the school, and the solution is built together. School leaders, staff, and community members contribute what they can (materials, labour, time, and care) while our team walks alongside them with planning, technical skills, materials they can't source and hands-on support.

It's not a handout. It is shared responsibility. Because this work doesn't only serve a school.

It supports students.
It reaches families.
It empowers entire communities.

And when a school helps build the solution, they also help carry the benefit forward.

This is what our walk-with model looks like.

Thank you to the ERM Foundation for walking alongside us and these schools to improve water access for students.

Still taking this in.

The Ayin Project is honoured to have accepted a 2026 Helper Grant from the Nashville Predators Foundation at Bridgestone Arena.

It was powerful to be in a room filled with organizations serving this community in so many meaningful ways. For TAP, this grant is more than funding. It is an investment in young people, hands-on learning, and the next generation of problem solvers.

These funds will help support the TAP Summer Internship’s sustainable engineering and media team this summer, giving students the opportunity to engage in real-world water research, STEM learning, storytelling, and global service connected to our ongoing work with schools in Uganda.

We were grateful to have Greg Smith representing MNPS, Nathaniel Freymeyer representing Vanderbilt CSEO, and Amani and Kailee representing our student interns. This work is stronger because of the people and partners walking with us.

Thank you, , for believing in this work and for helping turn community support into lasting impact.

The smiles said everything.

At The Ayin Project’s 2026 WASH Conference, school representatives didn’t just share polite thank-yous. They shared real signs of change.

Fewer water-borne illnesses disrupting school days.
Students drinking safe water.

Morning lessons no longer interrupted by water collection.
Soap-making skills becoming practical tools for teachers and families.

More learners enrolling because schools are becoming healthier places to learn.

This is what happens when clean water work is rooted in research, education, collaboration, and long-term partnership.

The Ayin Project is not showing up for a moment. We are walking with communities toward sustainable change, one school, one student, and one shared solution at a time.

Every day, mothers walk miles for water. Nearby pumps sit broken - lacking proper maintenance, unusable. Their children drink from unsafe sources.

This is their reality. But it doesn’t have to be.

Since partnering with The Ayin Project to provide clean, safe drinking water and WASH education, schools have seen their attendance records climb. Kids are showing up. They’re staying healthy. And the word is spreading - we now have a waitlist of schools looking to partner with us.

This model is working. It’s sustainable. And we’re not slowing down.

We will continue to grow and to serve. We won’t stop.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Still taking this in.

In one evening, this community exceeded our fundraising expectations for The Ayin Project.

That kind of generosity matters. It means our Ugandan team can go further, reach more schools, continue the research, support WASH education, and keep walking alongside communities working toward safe, clean water.

Thank you, we do not take this lightly.

We are also so grateful to the generous silent auction donors who helped make the evening possible: Artist Roxanne Fulmer, Patagonia, Chateau St. Croix Winery, Luck Golf Course, Marketplace Foods, Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Airport, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours.

This work keeps moving because people choose to walk with us.

If you were not able to attend, you can still be part of it. Donate today at the link in bio.

Happy Earth Day from The Ayin Project.

Today, we are inviting you to become a Water Guardian.

Your gift supports two communities at once.

In Uganda, it helps fund the hands-on work our team is doing every day through water quality testing, WASH training, and long-term partnership with schools as they work toward achieving 3-star WASH guidelines. So far, that work has reached more than 4,000 students across twelve schools, and we are just getting started.

In Nashville, your support helps fund SHIRE, the Summer High-School Internships in Research Experiences, a paid summer research internship run in collaboration with Vanderbilt University’s CSEO program, PowerYouth, and Metro Nashville Public Schools. Through SHIRE, high school students do real water science, and their research directly informs our work in Uganda.

This is what makes The Ayin Project unique. We are not just installing water sources and walking away. We assess, educate, train, implement, and follow up over time because lasting change takes collaboration, commitment, and care.

Thanks to a generous sponsor, the first $2,000 donated today will be matched dollar for dollar. That means your gift can go twice as far.

Be part of the solution this Earth Day. Make your matched donation here:
