History enthusiasts, here’s a little something for you! ✨

Our friends at Linebaugh Library (Rutherford County Library System) are kicking off the grand opening of “The American Revolution Experience” tonight at 5pm.

This traveling exhibit will feature display panels and interactive, digital kiosks that offer a combination of powerful storytelling, innovative technology, one-of-a-kind artifacts, and first-hand accounts to deepen our modern understanding of the events that led to our nation’s founding.

Tonight’s celebration will include a special appearance by Dr. Amy Sayward, a MTSU history professor, the director of the American Democracy Project, and chair of the campus’s Semiquincentennial Committee.

After a presentation by Dr. Sayward, there will be a reception with Colonial-style cookies from The Sweet Addiction.

We encourage you to come out, enjoy the exhibit, and invite friends and family members to join you in celebrating our nation’s history! 🇺🇸

This month, we’re talking about mental health, and why it matters. 💡

While mental health affects us all, regardless of age, race, or gender, mental illness refers to diagnosable conditions that involve greater attention and care. These are more common than many realize.

According to Mental Health America, approximately 1 in 5 American adults will have a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year. The number of U.S. adults with mental illness is currently 59.3 million.

Unfortunately, shame, social stigmas, and other barriers often prevent people from getting help when they need it most. Creating supportive environments, normalizing the process of seeking support, and making care options more accessible and affordable are all things that can be improved–in our local community and beyond.

It’s important to honestly address mental health challenges and illness with trusted sources. While it may not be easy, taking action is one of the smartest, most courageous moves you can make towards greater wellbeing and wholeness. It can enhance your quality of life and positively impact those around you.
