Notice a difference? The front door has been carefully rebuilt, and painted white! The shutters have also been rebuilt, but will remain in the shop until the water sealant has been sprayed on the bricks. Stay tuned to see what color the shutters will be! 👀

Restoration work on the schoolhouse is progressing as planned. S.A.Boyce has been working on the outside, restoring the bricks.
Today, crews are removing windows to repair, prep and paint, and protect them while the bricks are being sealed. The window openings are secured, temporarily, with plywood.

Today marks an important milestone for Schoolhouse #3. Local contractor, S.A. Boyce has started the process of tuckpointing the bricks. This begins phase 1 of critical restoration work to preserve the schoolhouse. Stay tuned as this progresses!

One Room Schoolhouse No. 3, Inc. exceeds $15,000 Matching Challenge as America Celebrates 250 Years of Independence.

As communities across the nation commemorate America's 250th birthday, supporters of the historic 1875 One Room Schoolhouse No. 3 have a special reason to celebrate.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of donors near and far, the community has far exceeded its $15,000 philanthropic matching challenge, providing a tremendous boost to the effort to preserve one of Indiana's treasured one-room schoolhouses.

This milestone is a fitting tribute to 250 years of American history and the enduring importance of protecting the places where generations of children first learned to read, write, and become engaged citizens. Every dollar contributed honors our nation's past while investing in the education and inspiration of future generations in our Delaware County community and beyond.
