Today, we honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day by recognizing the enduring strength, resilience, cultures, histories, and traditions of Indigenous peoples.

We also acknowledge that Acknowledge Alliance’s offices are located in Mountain View on the unceded, ancestral homeland of the Tamien Nation and Muwekma and Ramaytush Ohlone peoples, the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and recognize the histories and ongoing contributions of Indigenous peoples. Take a moment to learn about the Indigenous lands where you live, work, and learn.

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a day to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. The World Health Organization (WHO)’s theme this year is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to meaningfully engage with people with lived experience (PWLE) of mental health conditions and to recognize their knowledge as a vital form of expertise. This year’s campaign calls for their voices to shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.

October is Filipino American History Month! This month, we celebrate the rich history, vibrant culture, and lasting contributions of Filipino Americans, the second-largest Asian American ethnic group in the United States.

On October 18, 1587, the first recorded landing of Filipinos in what is now the continental United States took place in Morro Bay, California, when Filipino sailors arrived aboard a Spanish galleon. Their stories and contributions continue to shape our nation’s history and culture.

Join us in honoring the history, celebrating the achievements, and uplifting the voices of the Filipino American community. Explore these resources to learn more:

Our September newsletter is here!

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and this month’s feature article, “Su***de Prevention: Recognize the Signs, Start the Conversation, and Connect with Care,” offers practical guidance for recognizing when someone may be struggling and learning how to respond with compassion and care.

With 34% of Santa Clara County high school students reporting feelings of sadness or hopelessness lasting more than two weeks in the past year, creating supportive environments where young people feel seen, heard, and connected is more important than ever.
