After 76 years, the identified remains of a missing Korean War soldier will be returning home to Norris, Illinois.

We wanted to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Earnie Collins. He served his country in the Air Force from 1958 until he was honorably discharged in 1962. Earnie was a staple in our community and also a Life Member of the VFW since 2003.

Samantha Stanford spent a couple of hours spiffing up the Hall of Honor Military Museum at the Mt. Vernon Airport. My VFW Post 1376 Mount Vernon, IL recently adopted the museum as helping caretakers. The collection is really awesome and all donations from locals. We are hoping to make some updates to capture more histories to share. If you haven’t visited, you should. Local military artifacts/donations are spread throughout the airport.
