Hey, Theater Friends! Have you ever heard of Voice Acting?
Voice acting is the art of "acting out" or developing character voices for television shows, animated films, documentary voice-overs, and various broadcast industries. A voice actor, rather than only providing a voice, develops his or her character, just as actors in the performing arts field would. What should a person do if interested in voice acting? Voice acting coaches recommend that those who are interested in a career as a voice actor begin by studying theater and taking acting classes to develop basic theater skills. Then, an actor makes a gradual transition from stage acting to voice acting. Although it sounds simple, commitment and dedication are key components to becoming a voice actor rather than relying on voice talents alone.
Voice acting coaches also recommend that you develop versatility and flexibility in your voice. Starting with excellent listening skills, they suggest trying out new sounds, accents, and voices to give prospective clients a larger selection. Just remember: patience is necessary since a client may ask you to "give a different line reading", (which means to change how you deliver particular lines to suit the character better). 😊
