Meet Mark Cellars, the Cooper River Bridge Run's Deputy Race Director! 👋 A graduate of The Citadel, Mark started with the Bridge Run as an intern before becoming Associate Race Director in 2010, and has served in his current role for five years. You'll see Mark running point at the Expo, making sure everything runs smoothly, every vendor is in place, every runner gets their bib, and so much more.

Mark is dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of fellow Charlestonians through his work with the Bridge Run. If you see Mark at the Expo or on race day, say hello!

Reminder: Early registration means you qualify for packet mailing! 📪

Sign up for the Bridge Run by January 15th to get your packet mailed to your address. All you have to do is register by this date, select packet mailing, ensure your address is up to date, and expect your packet to be delivered in March 2027. If you register after January 15th, packet pick-up will be available at the Bridge Run Expo.

Remember, there is no packet pick-up on race day!

As someone who fell in love with running early in life, leading the Cooper River Bridge Run was a no-brainer for Irv Batten. Prior to becoming race director, Irv owned a Mount Pleasant-based running retail shop and conquered the Bridge Run several times, winning the Marcus Newberry Award, finishing as the top male runner twice, setting multiple records, and being inducted into the Cooper River Bridge Run Hall of Fame.

Irv was first named deputy race director, then became race director in 2019 – just in time to navigate the pandemic. Irv continues to fulfill the Bridge Run’s mission of hosting a world-class 10K race while promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle and is excited for this year’s history-making 50th race!
