Enough Is Enough

Enough Is Enough Enough Is Enough® is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization leading the fight to make the internet safer for children & families.

EIE built the foundation for and launched the National Internet Safety movement in 1994. Enough Is Enough® is a national non-partisan non-profit organization who has led the fight to make the Internet safer for children and families since 1994. EIE's efforts are focused on combating Internet po*******hy, child s*x abuse material, s*xual predation, and cyberbullying by incorporating a three-pronged

prevention strategy with shared responsibilities between the public, Corporate America, and the legal community. From Congress's first attempt to address the problem of Internet po*******hy and s*xual predation of children in the Communications Decency Act of 1996 to the Children’s' Internet Protection Act of 2000 (C**A), the Supreme Court's first landmark decision upholding Internet regulation requiring schools and libraries to filter Internet po*******hy from children, EIE has successfully demonstrated the need for federal legislation and industry to take corrective action to protect children and families from online dangers. Recent accomplishments include: EIE’s National Safe Wi-Fi" Campaign" calling on Corporate America to filter po*******hy and child s*x abuse material on public Wi-Fi, resulting in McDonald’s and Starbucks filtering WiFi in America; EIE’s bi-partisan Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge supported by candidates DonaldTrump and Hillary Clinton; The Governor’s Pledge and the State Attorneys General Pledge signed by 14 AG’s; EIE’s Emmy award winning Internet Safety 101® PBS TV series and parent-focused multi-media curriculum in partnership with Congress and DOJ. EIE President Donna Rice Hughes is a nationally recognized voice in the media for protecting families and children in the digital world, having given over 4,000 media interviews to date.

Every June, Internet Safety Month serves as an important reminder: children need guidance, protection, and open conversations as they navigate the digital world.
From social media and gaming platforms to smartphones, messaging apps, and AI-powered tools, kids are growing up in online spaces that can expose them to serious risks — including harmful content, online predators, cyberbullying, privacy threats, and addictive design features.
Internet safety is not a one-time conversation — it’s an ongoing part of protecting children in today’s digital world.
EIE is committed to helping families stay informed, equipped, and engaged.

Thank you to Attorney General Alan Wilson for signing the 2026 Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge and joining Enough Is Enough in calling for stronger protections for children online, including action against emerging threats like AI-generated child s*xual abuse material.
“Protecting children online is not a partisan issue, and as a dad of two teenagers, this issue is personal to me. I was proud to lead the bipartisan 54-state and territory letter urging Congress to confront the growing threat of AI-generated child s*xual abuse material before it becomes even more widespread. In South Carolina, however, we did not just talk about the problem, we acted. Working alongside my now-running mate, Senator Mike Reichenbach, we helped pass legislation to crack down on AI-generated CSAM and digitally morphed child exploitation images so predators cannot hide behind new technology. Artificial intelligence can be used for incredible innovation, but in the wrong hands it becomes a weapon against innocent children. As Governor, I will continue fighting to give law enforcement the tools they need to protect kids and hold offenders accountable,” said Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Thank you to Congressman Ralph Norman for signing the 2026 Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge and joining Enough Is Enough in calling for decisive action to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
“In response to the South Carolina Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s pledge, as governor, I pledge my full support, not just in word, but in deed, to stop the evil and rampant s*xual and mental abuse that is plaguing our children and teenagers of all ages both online and offline. I am committed to empowering and holding accountable our law enforcement, judges, elected officials, and churches to track down and remove the perpetrators from society by all means necessary! I stand with Jesus who warns of offenses, ’Woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.’ (Luke 17:1-2),” said Congressman Ralph Norman.

Enough Is Enough thanks Lt. Governor Pamela Evette for signing the 2026 Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge and for prioritizing the protection of South Carolina children online.
“As a mom, businesswoman, and your Lt. Governor, protecting South Carolina’s children has always been personal to me. I’m proud South Carolina became the first state in the nation to sign the Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge, and I strongly supported the Child Online Safety Act, signed into law in 2024, to require age verification on po*******hy websites and hold commercial entities accountable for exposing children to obscene material online. I also believe classrooms should be places for learning, not distractions. That’s why it was so important that South Carolina took action to remove cell phones from classrooms so students can stay focused, engaged, and successful. I’ll continue fighting to protect our children, strengthen parental rights, and deliver real results for South Carolina families. As Governor, I will always ensure parents, not Big Tech or government, have the final say over the safety and wellbeing of their children,” said Lt. Governor Pamela Evette.

Enough Is Enough applauds South Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidates Lt. Governor Pamela Evette, Sen. Joshua Kimbrell, Congressman Ralph Norman, Rom Reddy, and Attorney General Alan Wilson for signing the bipartisan “2026 Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge” ahead of tonight’s debate.
The online exploitation and abuse of children is one of the greatest public health crises facing our nation today. From s*xtortion and online predators to AI-generated child s*xual abuse material and harmful digital exposure, children are facing unprecedented dangers online.
The 2026 Children’s Internet Safety Governor’s Pledge calls on candidates, if elected, to:
Aggressively enforce laws protecting children online
Advance policies preventing online child exploitation
Strengthen parental tools and age verification measures
Encourage safer-by-design technology protections
Support public awareness and Internet safety education initiatives
As Donna Rice Hughes, President & CEO of Enough Is Enough, stated:
“South Carolina can become the ‘Model Child Internet Safety State’ for other states to follow.”
Enough Is Enough remains committed to educating families, advancing meaningful protections for children online, and working with leaders on both sides of the aisle to make children’s safety a national priority.

In case you missed it, Donna Rice Hughes, President & CEO of Enough Is Enough, joined Newsmax to discuss the growing dangers of AI-powered toys and AI chat companions being introduced into children’s everyday lives.
During the interview, Donna warned that AI technology is advancing faster than the laws and protections designed to keep children safe. She discussed the urgent need for stronger guardrails, parental controls, and accountability from Big Tech as AI tools become more integrated into toys, gaming, social media, and online platforms used by children every day.
“These are not toys — they’re tools. When an AI chat companion is placed inside a teddy bear, it’s still a chatbot.”
Donna also encouraged parents to delay introducing certain technologies to young children, use parental controls and time limits, and stay informed about the risks associated with AI-driven platforms.

As lawmakers and tech companies push for AI-powered age verification online, an important debate is growing:
How do we protect children online without sacrificing privacy, security, and accountability?
A recent article from AllSides explores the rapid expansion of AI age verification systems across social media platforms, app stores, and online services. Supporters argue these tools can help shield minors from harmful content and exploitative algorithms. Critics warn about concerns involving privacy, data collection, accuracy, and free speech.
One thing is clear:
Keeping kids safe online requires shared responsibility between parents, policymakers, and the technology companies shaping children’s digital experiences.
Children deserve:
● Safer-by-design technology
● Strong default protections for minors
● Meaningful parental tools and transparency
● Accountability from Big Tech companies
● Real safeguards that go beyond simple age gates
