Kitkat Playroom Nonprofit kitten rescue based in southern New Jersey
(1)

Kitkat Playroom is a foster-based 501(c)(3) neonatal kitten rescue located in southern New Jersey (Philadelphia region.) We save felines during their most vulnerable and needy stage; provide them veterinary care, love and warmth, and social skills. When they are big and strong enough, we spay/neuter and vaccinate all kittens in our care before we look for loving, carefully-screened forever homes for them. Please ignore my annoying voice — I always sing this as I deliver Fax’s breakfast and dinner and he gets so very excited! His happy circles go full blast!

Fax just got home yesterday after 4 days in the hospital. He was diagnosed with severe megacolon after his MRI many months ago and has been on medication since then, but he recently ended up with constipation complications that required hospitalization.

He’s home now and feeling better than ever!

Who has Fax’s sticker from his sticker sheet? These are his positive spins!

One month ago, surgeons removed Fen’s clogged shunt. How’s he doing now?

Awesome! I expected Fen to immediately have neurological issues, but that didn’t happen. It’s been 12 days since his last seizure. Although his balance isn’t any better, Fen is otherwise doing fantastic. He’s almost 4 pounds!

Next up is a neuro recheck on November 11. He might have an MRI the next day to check for any changes or complications since his shunt was removed.

One step closer to entropion repair. You’ll notice that Fen’s eyes are always squinty. I think that’s because of the entropion. Look how open Finnegan’s eyes became after his entropion surgery! I can’t wait for Fen to have the same relief!

Overall, our little Fen is doing better than ever!

Marley is an 11-week-old pipsqueak with a big personality, a bottomless appetite, and absolutely no fear. This tiny black kitten with the wide-set eyes and one-of-a-kind face is available for adoption in Woodbury, NJ.

Marley is bold, daring, and convinced that everything is meant to be climbed. Chairs, couches, tables, other cats. Nothing is off-limits. She especially loves draping herself over the backs of bigger cats for a nap, whether they appreciate it or not. And when she’s not climbing on them, she’s launching herself at them for a good wrestling match.

For such a little thing, Marley has a remarkable talent for growing her food belly. She takes eating very seriously, almost as seriously as she takes causing trouble.

Marley isn’t the least bit shy. She’s a confident, adventurous little girl who throws herself into everything she does. She’ll need a playful feline friend who can keep up with her antics, tolerate her surprise attacks, and occasionally serve as a mattress.

If you love tiny kittens with oversized personalities, Marley might be your girl! Apply to adopt her at https://kitkatplayroom.com/adopt.

Finnegan has a family! This is the very first *shunted* hydro that KKP has ever adopted out — and we wanted to be sure it was perfect. After reviewing many applications, we chose a family with lots of playful fur siblings for Finnegan and a safe environment for a cat with hydrocephalus. Finn’s new moms both work in veterinary medicine and are highly attuned to clinical signs of concern. He’ll be within 90 minutes of our neuro team, which is hugely reassuring. AND, his parents graciously created an Instagram and TikTok so we can watch how big this Maine C**n boy will grow! He heads home on November 8th, but you can start following them now!

Tomorrow is Timmy’s first birthday! So I thought I’d tell you how he got his name.

Timmy was born in a Philadelphia cemetery around Halloween last year, along with his two siblings. The cemetery caretaker had been feeding their mom and eventually brought the whole family to the city shelter, hoping they’d find homes.

The shelter named him Misty. A boy named Misty. 😂

So I started thinking about one of my favorite Halloween movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and its creator, Tim Burton. And that’s how Timothy got his name!

Yes, Timothy is his actual, official name. I just call him Timmy.

If you want to go back in time and see the moment I first met little Timmy, here’s the saved livestream from that day:

Marley comes home from the hospital this morning! Look how much healthier she looks! She had 48 hours of IV medications and that was just what she needed to get back on track. She will be very happy to have her Fax pillow back!
