When a child follows a character through a hard moment, they practice standing in someone else’s shoes.
Storytime is empathy practice in disguise. Pause and ask how the character feels. Choose stories where someone looks or acts different. After the book, let them act out a scene with toys or crayons.
No lesson plan required. Just a few minutes of shared reading and one good question.
