Gloucester County Chapter, Archaeological Society of New Jersey The Gloucester County Chapter of the ASNJ was organized to encourage the study of indigenous and historic archaeology in Gloucester Co. NJ.

We meet every other month (September - May) at the Riverwinds Community, 1000 Riverwinds Dr. West Deptford, NJ Please feel free to contact us @ (856) 534-3304 for upcoming events, club information, donations or cultural research questions. The Gloucester County Chapter of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey holds meetings, exchanges ideas and information, participates in field and laboratory

projects, educates our youth and encourages membership to the Chapter and the Archaeological Society of New Jersey. Membership is open to any and all who are interested in the intelligent conservation of archaeological resources within Gloucester County. Join us and help preserve a little of the past for the future!

It was a great day to display some artifacts and discuss history with guests who attended the “Family Archeology Day” at Red Bank Battlefield. Our sincere gratitude to good friend and dedicated ASNJ member, Jack Cresson, for his captivating presentation tonight on the history of serrations and the timeline importance of diverse points, spears, and knives employed by Native American Nations. A timeline that showcases the wonderful advancements of cutting tools throughout the years, potentially even revealing the game species they depended on for sustenance. Thank you Jack for this thought provoking exploration of the Native American and the frequently overlooked phases of tool development during their eras. The seminar was genuinely enjoyed by all in attendance!

It was a great night to start out our new year for the members of Gloucester County Chapter of ASNJ. Many thanks to our speaker, Patrick Ward who gave a magnificent presentation last night on Old Gloucester Town. Beautifully presented with vintage maps, documents and timelines of the Battle of Gloucester - November 1777. Thank you also Patrick for the many researchable links that will allow us to research these important campaigns and battles. It was a packed house for sure, and everyone came away very pleased with the topic and speaker!
