We want to recognize one of our eleven 2026 college scholarship recipients, Anna Orr, a graduating senior from Eustis High School, who was awarded a certificate at their April 21st annual awards ceremony with Club President Chris Vogl, Scholarship Committee Chair Andy Agoos, and Scholarship Committee Member Jim Barnes. Congratulations, Anna, we look forward to the many great accomplishments in the next chapter of your life.

The Club and its Foundation also want to thank all those donors, community leaders, and Club members who made these scholarships possible for so many deserving students in our community striving to achieve their dreams.

The Golden Triangle Kiwanis Foundation, with Past Club President Greg Vogl, honored four of our five senior scholarship recipients from Mount Dora Christian Academy at its annual awards ceremony on May 27th, who received certificates for their $1,500 one-time scholarships. These graduating high school seniors consistently demonstrated the character values of integrity, hard work, concern for others, and academic success. These students can use these funds to cover the costs of books, materials, room/board, or tuition for their upcoming educational journey. We wish each of these graduates a successful educational experience as they strive to hone their skills in preparing for a fulfilling career in the society they will ultimately serve.

The Club recently hosted a special dinner to honor longtime member Jack Wilson for 50 years of service. He received the “Legend of Honor” recognition from Kiwanis International, presented by 2025-26 Florida Governor Tommy Mills and Club President Chris Vogl. Jack celebrated with his family, former Club members, presidents, and the original charter member, Ronnie Phillips. Thank you, Jack, for inspiring the Kiwanis Family with your dedication.

Our special guest speaker this week was Lisa Wojo (Wojciechowski) of Taylor Morrison Homes. Lisa spoke to our membership about the new Lochside Development, located northwest of the County Country Club of Mount Dora and east of the Publix Shopping Center. The development represents a new lakeside community, featuring 150 single-family residences. They have 15 floor plans to choose from, accommodating up to 4,181 square feet under roof, 6 bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms, and even a 3-car garage.

It was an honor to recognize two of our local high school graduates, Clara Lahey and William Schmitz, at last Wednesday’s meeting, as they were among the many scholarship recipients who received $1,500 from our Club’s Foundation toward their planned educational endeavors. These seniors have consistently demonstrated the character values of integrity, hard work, concern for others, and successful academic achievement during their high school years. Our membership wishes them the best of luck in the next chapter of their lives and thanks all our members, event sponsors, and donors for their generous support in making these scholarships possible.
