We’re excited to gather this morning for our Foothills Young Professionals Q2 Membership Meeting at the Children’s Center in Dobson. A special thank you to Marion’s Jewelry for sponsoring today’s event and to cupo of Cup of Hope Coffee Truck for helping us kickstart the morning!

Today’s discussion will explore the many ways young professionals can get involved, build meaningful relationships, and make an impact in our communities. We’re grateful to hear insights from representatives of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce, BNI, Next Level Networking, Leadership Surry, Rotary Club, Foothills Young Professionals, and Surry Community College Small Business Center, who will be sharing valuable resources available to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Looking forward to a great morning of networking, learning, and collaboration!

Last Thursday, local educators got an inside look at the many healthcare career opportunities available right here in Surry County during the 2026 Mt. Airy Healthcare Educator Exchange!

From senior care and pharmacy operations to hospital departments and emergency response services, participants connected directly with healthcare professionals and explored the pathways that lead students into rewarding careers in the healthcare industry.

A huge thank you to our host sites, Home Instead Senior Care Services, RidgeCrest Retirement Community, The Lynx Med Spa, Northern Regional Hospital, and Mount Airy Rescue Squad, for opening your doors and sharing your expertise. Special thanks as well to Interworks Coworking for hosting the day and Surry Community College for providing transportation!

Another special thank you to Surry-Yadkin Works, Surry Community College, The Small Business Center, and Interworks for their leadership and partnership in making this event possible. Together, these organizations continue to bridge the gap between education and industry by creating meaningful opportunities for educators to connect with local employers and better understand the workforce needs of our region.

We recently had the opportunity to visit Protechnologies Inc. in Pilot Mountain, NC, and it was a fantastic experience to see firsthand the work being done right here in our community.

Spending time with their team, along with our partners from Surry Community College, reinforced what makes Surry County such a strong place for business, innovative companies, dedicated leadership, a commitment to excellence, hardworking people, and a shared pride in what they do. We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their operations and the role they play in the economy, both here and beyond.

Founded in 1985, PTI is a trusted manufacturer of custom battery packs, driving innovation across industries such as medical, government/defense, aerospace, technology, security and specialized OEMs. If you like a technical environment, but hate traffic, they might have a great opportunity for you!

These visits are something we truly value. They give us a chance to listen, learn, and better understand how we can support the companies that call Surry County home. We’re grateful to have Protechnologies as part of our business community and for the opportunity to help them make both talent and training connections!
