We recently had the opportunity to visit Protechnologies Inc. in Pilot Mountain, NC, and it was a fantastic experience to see firsthand the work being done right here in our community.

Spending time with their team, along with our partners from Surry Community College, reinforced what makes Surry County such a strong place for business, innovative companies, dedicated leadership, a commitment to excellence, hardworking people, and a shared pride in what they do. We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their operations and the role they play in the economy, both here and beyond.

Founded in 1985, PTI is a trusted manufacturer of custom battery packs, driving innovation across industries such as medical, government/defense, aerospace, technology, security and specialized OEMs. If you like a technical environment, but hate traffic, they might have a great opportunity for you!

These visits are something we truly value. They give us a chance to listen, learn, and better understand how we can support the companies that call Surry County home. We’re grateful to have Protechnologies as part of our business community and for the opportunity to help them make both talent and training connections!

Recently, our team had the opportunity to visit Stanley Heating & Air Conditioning (SHAC), a family-owned company proudly based in Elkin that has been serving the region for more than 25 years. During our visit, we enjoyed learning more about their operations, meeting members of their team, and hearing about the important work they do across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

From HVAC and plumbing to electrical and compressed air services, Stanley HVAC continues to play an important role in supporting businesses, industries, and families throughout our region. Industry visits like these are a valuable way to strengthen relationships, better understand the needs of local employers, and celebrate the companies helping drive growth and opportunity across Surry County.

We appreciate the Stanley team for welcoming us and for their continued investment in our community, workforce, and regional success!

Talent is at the heart of a thriving community, and a key focus of our strategic plan.

During Economic Development Week, we’re proud to highlight the work happening across Surry County to attract, support, and grow the people who make this place what it is. As we do, we’re also celebrating 30 years of the Surry County Economic Development Partnership and the impact that strong leadership, collaboration, and vision have had on our community.

Through our Everyday Elevated talent attraction initiative, we’re telling a bigger story, one that reflects not just where we live, but how we live, work, and thrive.

From partnering with Livability to share our story on a national stage, to building strong connections with our local school systems, employers, and community leaders, we’re creating career awareness and building pathways for students, professionals, and families to see a future here. A future filled with opportunity, purpose, and possibility.

Because Surry County isn’t just a great place to live, it’s a place to build a life, grow a career, and be part of something meaningful.

We’ve been working hard to elevate that vision, and we’re just getting started!

Strong communities are built on strong leadership.

From our CEO Roundtables and Annual Meetings to legislative engagement and ongoing spec building efforts, Surry County continues to move forward through collaboration, vision, and action. These moments represent more than meetings; they reflect the relationships and leadership driving meaningful progress across our region.

As we celebrate Economic Development Week with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), we recognize the leaders, partners, and advocates who are helping implement the leadership initiatives within our strategic plan and shape the future of Surry County.

Together, we are creating momentum, strengthening connections, and building what’s next.

Big ideas. Real impact.

Last year’s Surry Summit Grant recipients are already turning funding into forward motion, from expanding operations to increasing visibility and investing in safety.

This year, we took it even further thanks to support from the Duke Energy Foundation, creating two pathways to support both emerging entrepreneurs and growing businesses.

Pitch It for new ideas and early-stage businesses, and Grow It for established businesses ready to scale.

As we celebrate Economic Development Week alongside the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), initiatives like Pitch It Grow It reflect the Surry County Economic Development Partnership’s commitment to strengthening our business community through the implementation of our strategic plan.

Now, our judges are reviewing submissions… and we’re getting closer to announcing our next round of winners!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday for the 2026 Manufacturing Educator Exchange!

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our manufacturing partners and community members who make this program a reality. It was a fantastic evening of connection and collaboration focused on the future of manufacturing and industry for our students.

A special thank you to our presenters and partners at Altec, Surry-Yadkin Works, and the Yadkin County Economic Development Partnership for making this kickoff so meaningful. We truly appreciate the leadership of Crystal Folger-Hawks and Dr. Myra Cox with the Surry-Yadkin Works team, who made this event possible! We would also like to highlight Anthony Davis, Kara Parsons, Daniel Haymore, Levi Rorrer, and Garrett Dinkens for speaking and helping to bring this experience to life!
