❤️ MEET OUR VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR TEAM! 🐴

Our volunteers are truly a vital part of Common Ground, and we are so fortunate to have Debbie Prue, Mollie Stone, and Kelley Flanders leading our Volunteer Coordinator Team!
Their role is all about making sure our volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, supported, and connected from the moment they join us.

rom welcoming new faces and coordinating training opportunities to keeping everyone informed and building a strong sense of community, Debbie, Mollie, and Kelley work together to make volunteering at Common Ground a meaningful and rewarding experience.
It takes an incredible group of people to do the work we do, and our volunteers give so much of their time, talents, and hearts to Common Ground. ❤️

“You know guys are always skeptical at first.”

That’s what a Sergeant from the Montgomery County Department of Police told us after bringing his squad to Common Ground.
And that’s okay. You don’t have to be a “horse person.” You don’t have to know anything about horses. You just have to be willing to show up and try something different.

Here’s what his officers had to say afterward:
🐴 “It was different, fun but still had a team building objective. It was cool to see us working as a team outside of our environment.”
💙 “The experience felt intimate and gave us an opportunity to let our guards down… I thought it was a really good bonding experience for our squad.”
🐴 “I enjoyed the teamwork aspect of guiding the horse… I think it was a good way to take your mind off of work.”

And from their Sergeant:
“It was impressive to see them work together, overcome any hesitations they may have had and realize this is what we do every day—work together and communicate.”
That’s exactly what we hope happens here.

Brodie has been dreaming about this day all year… and FINALLY, the waffles arrived! 😂🧇

Buddy may have helped with the celebration, but Brodie would like everyone to know those waffles were definitely meant for him.

Common Ground is seeking participants for our next six-week Operation HorsePower program, created for military members, veterans, and first responders.
Through trauma-informed, hands-on experiences with our horses, participants will have the opportunity to:
❤️ Heal through equine-assisted trauma recovery
🌱 Build confidence, resilience, and trust
🤝 Connect within a supportive small-group environment
⭐ Develop skills that promote post-traumatic growth and long-term resilience

We love it when past participants return to Common Ground and bring their families to meet their horses! 💚🐴
Ray, a past participant in our Operation HorsePower program, recently came back to visit Billy—the horse he connected with during his time at Common Ground. This time, he brought someone special along to meet him!
The relationships formed here don’t simply end when a program is over. The horses remember—and the connection remains.
Thank you for coming back to visit Billy, Ray! You will always be part of the Common Ground family. 🇺🇸

Nonprofits helping nonprofits—that’s how communities grow stronger! ❤️🐴

Helping Up Mission recently invited the staff of Faith House to join them in one of their Common Ground sessions so they could experience the healing power of horses firsthand and explore bringing this opportunity to the women and children they serve.

This is what community and collaboration look like—sharing resources, opening doors, and helping even more people find hope and healing. We are honored to be part of it!
