🎓 Another student is starting classes at Walters State! 🎓

This is what transformation looks like: going from drugs to a degree, from addiction to opportunity, and from surviving to building a future.

We are incredibly proud of April for taking such a courageous step forward. Recovery is about more than leaving the old life behind. It is about discovering who God created you to be and walking boldly into the future He has for you.

Please join us in celebrating and praying for this student as classes begin! 🙌

Maybe today you feel trapped in addiction and cannot imagine a different future. April’s story is proof that change is possible, and your story does not have to end where you are. There is hope. There is help. There is a way forward.

Take the first step today. Apply to Abundant Hope Ministries at https://www.ahmtn.org/application
Reach out now and begin building the life God created you to live!

CoreTalk

Have you ever felt like you were asking God for help but still trying to hold everything together yourself?

You pray for Him to lead you, but you already have a direction in mind. You ask Him to work things out, but you have decided what the answer should look like. You ask for peace, but you are afraid of what might happen if you truly release control.

I have been thinking about how easy it is to trust God enough to ask for His help, but still struggle to place the whole situation in His hands.

While I was teaching class, the Lord gave me this illustration.

Imagine someone handing you a tangled necklace and asking you to untangle it, but they refuse to let go of one end.

Think about how frustrating that would be and how much harder they would make the process. Every time you tried to loosen one knot, they might pull it tighter. You could not turn the necklace, examine the whole chain, or freely move what needed to be moved.

They trust you enough to ask for help, but not enough to place the whole necklace in your hands.

I wonder how often we approach God the same way. We ask Him to untangle the mess, but we keep holding tightly to one side. Then, when He begins moving something we did not expect, we pull against Him.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart...” -Proverbs 3:5a (BSB)

Maybe the process feels harder because we are asking God for help while still trying to stay in control.

What would happen if you stopped pulling against His hands and placed the whole thing in them?

CoreTalk

Lately, I have become aware of the times I failed to partner with the Holy Spirit when He was bringing conviction into someone’s life.

There have been many times when fully grown, fully “free” people have asked whether I minded if they smoked w**d, smoked ci******es, drank, or cussed around me. Sometimes they have even asked while we were in their own home.

My response was usually, “What you do is none of my business.”

And that is true. But I have come to understand that there may have been something deeper happening in that moment.

Why would someone in their own home ask for my permission?

Maybe it was not really my permission they were looking for. Maybe the Holy Spirit was already dealing with their heart, and their question was an invitation for me to partner with what He was doing.

“And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”- John 16:8 (BSB)

So now my answer is different:
“I appreciate you respecting my recovery and my relationship with God enough that you do not want to do that around me.”

I am learning that when conviction speaks, I do not need to condemn anyone, but I also should not silence what the Holy Spirit may be saying just to avoid an uncomfortable moment.

Sometimes people are not asking us to judge them. They are asking us to help them listen.
