Great news, friends and supporters!
Volunteer DME Foundation has officially received our Tennessee Nonprofit Charter from the Secretary of State and our EIN (Employer Identification Number) from the IRS.
This is a huge step forward. We are now a legally recognized nonprofit organization in Tennessee. We can open our dedicated bank account this week, issue official tax-deductible receipts, and begin putting every donation directly toward helping low-income families in East Tennessee get the durable medical equipment they need — scooters, stairlifts, lift chairs, repairs, and more.
What’s next and where we are right now:
Our website (dmehelp.org) is actively being built and will launch very soon
Our board of directors is forming with dedicated local members
We’ve already received our first $500 donation (thank you!)
We’re preparing our 501(c)(3) application to the IRS
Every single dollar you give goes straight to vendors so families don’t have to pay out of pocket or wait on state programs. No inventory, no big overhead — just real help and restored independence.
