The Morrison Rotary Club had a great turnout on Wednesday, October 7 for our Adopt-A-Highway beautification project. Striving to make our mile of highway 30 a little cleaner was (left to right): Dave Hegwood, Brad Yaklich, Rich Groleau, Go Pack Go John Prange!, Mike Gunderson, Kevin Schisler, Stan Steines, Karl Kovarik, Paul Van Kampen, It's not just a man's world- Colleen Buckwalter and JD Benko. Good news everyone! We are a "GO" for the race today. May have a slight delay with the 5K to be safe from any potential lightning but bring your rain gear and head on down to Morrison High School for registration! We will have an indoor staging area for bikes and a nice dry gym for runners to warm up before the start. Right now we have light rain

GREAT NEWS!! PRAIRIE CENTER ROAD IS PAVED!!! So bikers will NOT have to ride on ANY GRAVEL. If you have been holding out to register pending nice smooth surface, your wait is over. The entire route is new asphalt.
Many athletes are watching the weather for Saturday. Please note we WILL run the event even in the rain. HOWEVER, if there is lightning, for safety reasons, we will cancel the race. Please note, there are NO refunds in the event of cancellation. Our committee is in touch with the County Engineers and the Weather forecast.
The 5K course is an out and back course which starts in front of Morrison High School on Genesee Street and makes a right turn onto Prairie Center Road. Follow Prairie Center straight past Dixie Drive and then turn around and head back on Prairie Center Road to Genesee and back to Morrison High School.
Bikers will take Prairie Center to Hillside Road and turn left. Then they will turn left again at Harvey Road. They will follow Harvey Road to Henry Road and turn right. They will then turn left on Bunker Hill Road to Lister Road. Turn left on Lister and proceed to back to Harvey Road. You will turn right onto Henry Road and go back to Prairie Center Road, turn left and repeat. We will have guides at each intersection to show you the way. This route is comparable in distance and will also provide you with some exciting new scenery. We are confident you will love the new scenic route!

Morrison Rotary September 2026 Student of the Month

The Morrison High School September 2026 Student of the Month is Joshua McDearmon. Josh is the son of Jason and Hillary McDearmon. He is involved in football and track. He was on the track team that won the State Championship. One of his crowning jewels is that he broke the school record, previously held by his dad, in the hurdles. He also loves to play football! He is also involved in the B.L.I.N.D program at MHS and is on the student council. He is very involved in Emmanuel Church participating in mission trips, youth group plus he is on the tech team at the church. His future plans include a 4 year college most likely majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Also, our current route requires bikers and walkers to traverse over a packed gravel surface for about ¼ mile before and after the bridge. We have worked hard to find a comparable distance route with minimum interaction with gravel.

Follow Prairie Center straight to Dixie Drive and then turn around and head back on Prairie Center Road to Genesee and back to Morrison High School.

Today the Ceremonial Passing of the gavel took place. Presenting a Past-Presidents pin and a commemorative plaque to outgoing President Ellen Smith, was in-coming President Kevin Schisler. Ellen also presented Kevin with a Presidents pin. Ellen was congratulated for a job well done. Kevin noted he would discuss some of his goals for the upcoming year at a later meeting. Congratulations to both Ellen Smith and to Kevin Schisler!
