💙WHOA’s 13th Annual Benefit Open Horse Show💚
Another fun horse show is in the books!! We had a beautiful day for it and it was a successful fundraiser for our program!! We could not hold this horse show without the many hardworking volunteers that help run this show and our generous sponsors!!! I have SO many people to thank but I’ll start with-
⭐️The Whiteside Co Fairboard
This generous group
lets us use their arena, their equipment, the grounds, and the food stand for our concession stand. The arena was worked and dragged, the parking area was mowed, everything looked great and was ready to go!! We are forever grateful to this organization for their continued help and support!!
Next, I’d like to thank the following-
⭐️Judge -Teddy Snapp
⭐️Announcer -Jill Miller
⭐️Ringperson -Jayne Pape
❤️🤍💙Flag Presentation-Lisa Bush and Allie
⭐️Drag and Speed Events -Karl Kovarik
⭐️In-gate, Set up and Clean Up-Dan Eads
⭐️Entry Table and Clean Up-Jane Hoffman
⭐️Entry Table -Vicki Wright
⭐️Clean Up -Jen Black
⭐️Outgate and Ribbons -Chris Buis and Harley Jo Gengenbach
⭐️Concessions-Mike Wiersema, Josh, Allie, Avery & Aiden Thiessen, Emily Henson and Abe, Christie, Claire and Chloe Houzenga.

💙💚 A special thank you goes to everyone who came out to participate in our show and who supported our concession stand!!!💙💚

There is something almost magical about the connection between a child and a horse.

Not because either of them is perfect, but because neither of them knows how to fake love.

A horse does not care about status, appearance, money, or success. A child does not care about pedigrees, trophies, or ribbons. When they meet, they see only what truly matters. Trust. Kindness. Presence.

That is why moments like this touch us so deeply.

A little girl reaches through the bars, and a thousand-pound animal lowers its head without fear. No commands. No expectations. No rewards. Just a quiet exchange of trust.

Many people spend their entire lives searching for relationships built on honesty. Horses seem to find it naturally. They listen without interrupting. They comfort without speaking. They teach without judging.

A horse can sense nervousness in a trembling hand and sadness hidden behind a smile. Yet instead of turning away, they often move closer.

Children understand this instinctively.

They do not see a powerful animal. They see a friend.

They do not see size or strength. They see gentle eyes waiting to be understood.

And horses respond.

Maybe that is why so many horse lovers remember their first horse long after decades have passed. They may forget names of teachers, neighbors, or classmates, but they never forget the horse that first taught them what unconditional trust felt like.

For a child, a horse becomes more than an animal.

It becomes a safe place.

A keeper of secrets.

A silent witness to tears, dreams, victories, and fears.

And for the horse, that small hand reaching out may be the purest form of love it will ever know.

Because children love completely.

Without conditions.

Without agendas.

Without asking for anything in return.

Looking at this image reminds us of a simple truth: every horse deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and kindness. But perhaps even more than that, every horse deserves to experience the kind of love only a child can give—a love so honest that it asks for nothing except the chance to be close.

In a world that often feels rushed and complicated, moments like these remind us what truly matters.

A gentle touch.

A trusting heart.

And a friendship that neither words nor time can ever fully explain.
