Morrison Schools Foundation is thrilled to announce its new Student Activity Fee Initiative at Morrison Jr. High and High Schools. The goal is to help remove financial barriers to student participation in extracurricular activities.

This initiative is made possible with the generous bequest of Dr. Richard Vandermyde. Almost 10 years ago, Doc Vandermyde met with the Schools Foundation and expressed his concern that the significant fees could create barriers to student participation.

Unfortunately, at the time, MSF was relatively new and did not have the financial ability to make a significant impact.

However, this changed when Doc Vandermyde chose to invest in the Morrison Schools Foundation (and several other Morrison community non-profits) through an incredibly generous bequest.

The Foundation will be forever grateful to Doc Vandermyde for his belief in our mission backed by his significant investment. We hope this is just the beginning of honoring his legacy for many years to come.

MSF was honored to present its annual “Grandpa T Volunteer of the Year Award” this afternoon to Sue Keime.

Mrs. Keime was a teacher at Southside School for 17 years. Since her retirement, Sue has volunteered her time and this year was mainly in the 3rd grade wing. Sue is a big help with assisting students and the teachers. Her name is displayed on a plaque at Southside and a donation of $250 will be made to a District program of her choice in her name.

This award is given annually to recognize the outstanding contributions of one extraordinary volunteer. The award is named in honor of “Grandpa T” (John Taets), who has volunteered for at least 22 years for the District.

Thank you to Mrs. Keime for your dedicated service! Thank you also to all the other nominees and volunteers. MSF, the teachers, our students, and Community thank you!

MSF is proud to announce the winner of its inaugural “MSF District Employee Volunteer of the Year” award - Jr. High Principal Joe Robbins! Many know the countless hours Mr. Robbins puts in over and above his “normal” duties, whether it be all night lock ins, dances, concessions, or forgotten maintenance projects.

On hand for the award presentment were MSF board members Jackie Damhoff, Beth Yaklich, and Trent Bush, along with Mr. Bartoz and Mr. Robbins’s family.

Congratulations to Mr. Robbins and thank you for your service!

MSF will be making a $250 donation to a school cause of Mr. Robbins’s choice in his name and honor.
