Big, bold color is going up on our walls in Collingswood.

Swipe for a first look at “Healing Through Art,” a new art exhibition by Dr. James George, an ER doctor, lawyer and now artist. It’s the premiere of his large acrylic works on wood panel, in the Main Gallery at Perkins Center for the Arts.

In his words:
“My discovery of abstract art and painting was accidental. I was introduced to art therapy as a healing process during my recovery at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. I discovered how impactful art can be for physical and emotional healing and for connecting with people beyond words. It is my core belief that art heals the mind, body, and spirit. It is the gift that was given to me, and the one I want to share and make accessible to everyone.”

This exhibition is part of our Arts in Health work at Perkins.

Three guys from Burlington County who’ve been playing together since high school. Now they’re bringing it to Moorestown.

The Alan Wilkins Trio plays Jazz Hauz on Nov. 20 with a set of originals and jazz standards. Sax and guitar both run through effects, so expect some sounds you don’t usually hear at a jazz show.

Tickets are $25 online until noon the day of the show, then $30 at the door.

Veterans and active-duty military artists, this one’s for you. Our annual Veterans and Active-Duty Military Exhibition is back at Perkins Moorestown, and submissions are open now.

You can enter up to three pieces. Veterans and active-duty military get a free Perkins membership (required to enter). Just call us at 856-235-6488 or email [email protected] to set it up.

Drop-off is November 13 (10–2) and November 14 (10–4). The show runs November 16 through December 14, and we’d love to see you at the opening reception on Saturday, November 21 from 2–5.

Our front desk is hiring.
Perkins is looking for a part-time Customer Relations Team Member. You’d be a first point of contact for patrons and faculty, handling registrations and questions and pitching in on classes and events across our four locations. Experience in an arts, education or nonprofit setting is a plus.
