Hello, my name is Elliana Albert.
I am a 12-year-old preparing for my Bat Mitzvah on June 18, 2022. To complete a Bat Mitzvah, it is required for you to complete a project to help "repair the world". In Hebrew, Tikkun olam. This comes from the Torah and has been a Jewish tradition for thousands of years.
For my project, I have chosen to collect gently used sports equipment for people who can’t afford it. I have been very fortunate that I am always able to have the necessary equipment for my sports. Many children from low-income families are not as lucky, because they can't afford to pay for the required equipment. For example, when playing soccer for my school, we traveled to a town 45 minutes away. While my team had new uniforms, nice shin guards, and cleats, the other team had old and broken equipment. That is when I discovered my passion to support the underprivileged and help people gain the ability and equal opportunity to play sports.
So, I am actively collecting any lightly used sports equipment - from bats, balls, gloves, helmets, tennis rackets to flag football blets - nearly anything!
More information will be available soon. Meanwhile, please feel free to comment below or email me [email protected].
